Google had recently penalized Aviva and Alive directories!

That's pretty scary. A lot of effort had gone in making those directories such a big success

Google yet again proves that the only reason a site is around is because "they allow it"

Probably because google thinks directories are pretty much useless, nobody really uses them any more now that search is so efficient.

I don't think this is the reason why google did not show the PR update.

may be it's just a serp fluctions! i guess we should wait for some time before making such statements!

The cache and pr is there, so no question of penalizing as of now! it will be better if we wait for a few weeks and observe the results, before making such statements of penalising!:)

This is like a shock to any one who buy and sell links.

Looks like the end of directory business is not that far!

Not sure if we can say: Pad Directories are History!
-- If we see more strong directories in this category we could say that for sure.

Let us look for a new type of business.

Not sure if you do researched the topic but its due to owners that where buying high PR links and got penalized for thier actions...

None of mine where penalized and its due to myself not chasin the PR
