    Hey DP Gang,

Has anyone ever heard of Google blocking an IP address from using it's search query?

    Here's the message:

    We're sorry...

... but your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now.

We'll restore your access as quickly as possible, so try again soon. In the meantime, if you suspect that your computer or network has been infected, you might want to run a virus checker or spyware remover to make sure that your systems are free of viruses and other spurious software.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope we'll see you again on Google.

I know that I have been doing a lot of searches, and i just installed a ranking report system and ran several reports with tons of key phrases. Has anyone ever had a problem like this? Is there any way out?

This has never happened to me, but it is not uncommon. If you are sending alot of queries to Google, they ask that you use their API - otherwise you can get blocked.

Yep, I've seen that before. If a malicious bot or something is attacking Google, they will surely block it.

So you don't think it's this new software, but really a malicious bot on my system?

    It's not you it's them

I posted a thread about this a while back. It cleared up the next day.

Are you behind a firewall or proxy?

it's probably the new software (i highly doubt it's a coincidence and G is giving you the benefit of the doubt by saying it could be spyware).. what you are running is just as malicious in google's eyes. what does a bot do? sends thousand of automated queries.. what does your software do? sends thousands of automated queries.

Over the past 12 months I've received that message at least two times that I can remember. I wasn't doing anything funky just a lot of searching.

wow - i've been checking out some Ranking Report software that delays before each search query to simulate a user. I think this will help out a lot, but the only draw-back is that it will take much longer.

At least my IP won't be blocked.

I've seen some adword and rank checking tools cause this, clears up after the programs stop running 30-60minutes or so.

Isn't there a "word verification" image there?
