Some of them are rented. The question is do you really love your niche? Or is it just because of the potential of earning $$$? If not then thats the real problem.

I LOVE forums and the ideas of running them. Of course I love the topic otherwise I would get bored and not contribute to the community. I am very active on my board. I just want to make some money on the side to pay for web hosting and other stuff.
I have already paid a few people but i think that genuine members are better. They actually come back after 100 posts, although one guy did 101.
Oh yes, real active members are ideal. But having a few posts will allow people to want to join (since people like joining active forums rather than empty ones)
Do you think my forums look empty. They are not totally empty but they are not huge. I am making new threads ever day. It will grow slowly over the next months.

Forums are not a very good way to make money with adsense. I run a half dozen large forums in various categories (a couple with over 20K members and several thousand uniques a day). I make more from my throw away mfa sites by far.
