Hi Christopher here's my entry. Feedback please.

Lol, I see almost everyone went with an African-centered theme... They look great though!

The contest is now officially over. I will go through all the entries, make my comments, and announce a winner.

 

@Graffworld2: I had some communication problems with the friend I am helping out with that website. There is always a winner on all my contests. A winner will be announced in 24 hours if I do not hear anything.

Here are my comments (I try to stay off the Internet too much during the weekends...)

stardesigns99: Your design skills really come through. I love how you say "Here's a quick one" when the design is just so beautiful. I love how minimalistic your design is. I love the green. I loved the heading, the menu, the "Call Us", and the little logo on the bottom right.

Janine: I really liked your design as well. I liked the stock photo image you used with the people around the globe. It feels really nice. I also really like the blue background and the background colours in the header.

Abdul.D: I liked the orange colour of your design. I also kind of liked the church theme you went with since it made your design stand out from everybody's Africa theme. I liked the font you used for the subheading. The only thing I would have suggested is to make up titles for the menu items and put in dummy text. I usually am pretty good at doing this in my head, but the minute it takes to do that may help you in in other contests. (I personally felt like your design was more personable without all the dummy text however.)

kÖe: I'm Brazilian too. Another one of my favourites. Wow you guys are good. I love how simplistic this design is. I love the light colours. I also really like all the pictures you decided to go with. It all fits together so nicely!

z3al0t: I liked your design as well. I really liked the pictures you went with. They all fit together so nicely (maybe minus the second one on the page which was a little sad). I also really liked the red. Normally, I would think red wouldn't fit in well, but you managed to do it. The only thing I did not like was your watermark which clearly broke one of the rules :/ No sweat though. Just remember for the next contest if you enter.

design_nikki: Yay. Another one of my favourite designers on DP! Wow... that top header with the fading red is so beautiful! I just sat here and looked straight at it for a couple of minutes! I loved your main picture at the top and the simplistic menu at the top right. I also loved how simple and minimalistic your design is.

suke: Very nice design. I liked the yellow. It matched the style of the charity. I loved your "Donate now" button and the "Newsletter" and "Gallery" pictures on the right sidebar. It adds a lot of dimension to the website.

richard.westman: I liked the font you used "Being Comited Is the Key." That is probably my favourite font of all the ones on any of these designs. It won't work for everything, but works very well where you put it. I thought you body text was a little too jumbled up together and big and I realize I can change that easily when the design is coded, but it threw me off a little bit. I really liked your right sidebar with "Goals" and the check marks.

sLiMsHaDys: Wow your work is always good as well. You also broke one of the rules though. Don't sweat it either, just remember for next time as I sometimes have to show these designs to friends or clients and it is weird if each ones says something different on it. As for the design itself: I love the little kids spelling out "Give Back". So unique! I LOVED the stock pictures you choose. Probably my favourite of all the ones here. I loved your header at the top with all the text. It adds so much character to the website. Here again I loved the simplicity of it all. I also really liked your little logo on the bottom left.

Erthy: Good to see another design from you in one of my contests! This design, similar to others, I liked the simplicity of it. I also really liked the brown and teal colours. I am not sure 100% that they would fit with all types of charities so am glad you took a chance on it.

dechapoe: Ironically this was my favourite design. I say ironically because I have been complementing every single person on the simplicity of their design. In general, I would prefer a simpler design, but this one just goes real well together. I am trying to not be too bais, but the lime green and dark gray color combination is probably one of my favourites. I also really like how the orange fits in as well. I also really like the menu at the top and the header. That is probably what made me favour this design. The only thing that could improve on it would be a simpler design to make it more apt to a small charity.

bizzard: Yay for blue... I love your sky theme. The blue and white fit so nicely together. I really like it. Like I mentioned on so many other designs, I like the simplicity. The only thing I did not like about your design was the semi-blog theme to it. I don't blame you though. People are now making ever website look like Wordpress blog pages.

joidiamonds: Thanks for your entry. I have to abide by my own rules though (I hate rules...). I'll still give you comments though: Again here I really like the sky theme. I think it is such a beautiful theme especially for a charity. I don't get the umbra that much (It's not always cloudy yay ), but really like it haha. I really liked the stock images you used and the buttons on the bottom of the page. Overall it was a very nice design!

Thank you everybody for such hard work. I really do wish I could say everybody's a winner. Well I can say it, but that just sounds cheesy... Anyway:

Just to keep everybody informed: I have contacted dechapoe yesterday about one modification to his design (changing the logo), but still have not heard back. I really liked his design and he is in first place, but if I do not hear back from him I will announce another winner.


EDIT: This whole post seemed super-happy with all the smilie faces I added in, but DP said I had too many so I had to delete them...

 

Thanks Christopher for your review. I supose that the rule I've broke is the rule nr. 3, right? Well, I've had some incidents a while ago, and since then I've always watermarked my work.. maybe a little bit too much, and I'm sorry for that. Also, I'm very happy that you liked my work, hope your friend does too.

I understand sLiMsHaDys. I value people's work very much. I actually encourage people to put up "Sample" on their image. Thanks for the great entry. I hope to see more of your work in the future!
