I have seen people complaining about the quality of the threads. So I decided to ask help from the older members to write examples of what kind of topics do they considered valuable for this forum. Thank you It would be very enlightening for new people.
Threads will always be subject to some criticism. The same thread that one member may condemn as flippant or irrelevant, may seem fun and entertaining to others. If *you* are happy with your threads then that ought to be good enough. Just remember that some sourpusses may not appreciate light hearted fun threads. But these do have a place on DP just as dark brooding, serious threads do.
I concern with the new people, some joint to this forum hoping that they will got enlightening here. What's they gonna be?
probably a thread like this one - > https://forums.digitalpoint.com/thr...ers-answer-of-your-why-where-and-how.2637220/ where in the OP has consolidated the FAQs into one single post so that other members can go through it to understand the new rules better. Also we can just redirect other new members to have a look for their doubts. Again, as others said its subjective!
@Nucita - I am sure you are talking about this post https://forums.digitalpoint.com/threads/the-like-thread.2643817/page-2#post-18520600 It is not necessary that everyone likes your post/thread, critics are everywhere but the person also had a point that this threads have no value but as far you are following all forum Rules and these all threads are in General chat(hope people can understand the meaning of general).. For me quality post/thread can be defined as "Every post that you made to help someone and resolve their issue" or "Every thread you had created to share your knowledge (not copy-pasted from other sites) just based on your experience" is quality post/thread. There are lot of section like SEO, general business, Paypal, Designing, development and many more where people need help and if you can help then it's valuable post for them also if you had good knowledge on some topics then you can share by creating new thread but remember do not copy paste. At last... It's subjective...lolz hope my reply can help you.
General Chat forum is at times filled with flippant posts that don't have any deep relevancy to them. But General Chat is designed for that. It is all about chit chat and members posting whatever their little hearts desire. If it seems boring to some, it is because it's *supposed* to be boring.
Every thread does not need to be for some worthy purpose - the pointless threads do have a place here. The point of my post in the other thread was that starting a ton of the "pointless" type threads, at some point, becomes excessive and spam like. Nucita was basically starting a new one every other day for a month. Many of them already existed as threads on DP, so the point then is what exactly? In my opinion, it was excessive and I made that point. Each one on its own might be fine, but for one member to create a new pointless thread on nearly a daily basis is excessive. did you have a hero when you were a child? What would you do to attract the person you love? Are you single? married? has anyone watched Inuyasha? How many hours do you work per day? do you know how to cook? Best way to apologize... Do you prefer the old DP or the new one? could you please tell me where i can unsubscribe... I want to buy a new game, which are the best now? what does DP expect from the new comers? Beer or wine? what kind of things won't you be able to live without? Do you believe that there is life after death? The Best job ever... Early bird or night owl? What are the best memories from people you lost? Buddies Never... The Ideal Mate Should Be... To Cheat Or Not To Cheat...that Is The Question... Do You Prefer To Have Quantity Or Quality? What Do You Do In Your Free Time? What Are The Best Ideas To Celebrate Valentine's Day? Help!!! I'm New Here!!!
Thank you! well It might be for that one, but also because I read about the things in the past (before the changes), so I wanted to be sure to do the right thing. And about the other places to participate, as I wrote before there are tons of things to learn...
@browntwn We really shouldn't be singling out individual members like this. I would have been far happier had you made your point in a generic way.
Thank you, for me it is very important to have many different points of view. Reality is made of tons of pieces, each one is unique and necessary.
