i'm also interested in the dropship business. you might want to see TurnKey Nation. There're some nice sites there. but do dropship business give you good money? say, several hundred a month?
If you want to run a successful drop shipping business you need to first off forget about searching google for "Drop Shipping" keywords. Any company that comes up is going to be stealing from your profits. A successful drop shipping business is going to deal individually with each manufacturer. This way there is no middle man. You will want to pick out which items you want to sell and contact the manufacturer directly. 80% of manufacturers are willing to drop ship for you and if they're not - they will put you in touch with a distributer that will offer you excellent prices. Basically i'm saying do some research on your market, and then pick up the phone and start making some phone calls and build some business relationships. Best of luck. If you have any questions let me know. I run a drop shipping biz.
so basically what you're saying is that we should go straight to a distributor in our area and talk to them, instead of buying a turnkey website?
One of my dropship websites made me $9,000 last year. That's probably small potatoes to a lot of people, but I thought it was pretty nice. I have some dropship info in my blog. I've also listed some dropshippers. One in particular on there is a manufacturer/dropshipper. They are the best to buy from. Check out my blog: www.webpuffs.com
Search this forum and you will find plenty of reading material with great advice and some really useful links.
$9000 in 12 months...that'll be...$750 a month! that's a big amount of money when converted in my currency! i checked your link, it's very helpful. thanks.
That is what I understood by reading bbotts post. I too have been looking into doing a dropship site.
There's a number of dropshippers which ship internationally. You just have to enquire with each dropship wholesaler.
I would first contact the manufacturer before signing up for these affiliate turn key e-commerce stores online. For example, say I am interested in opening an e-commerce shop selling electric shavers - I would contact all the manufacturers such as Gillette, Norelco, etc. etc. to first try and get a direct deal through them. If they are unwilling to provide a dealer account for you and or drop ship your orders, then they will more than likely put you in touch with a distributer in your area who can help you. Most of these distributers deal in very high volume, so they can offer you dirt cheap prices whcih are almost comparable to the dealer prices. I know some of you were mentioning world wide brands, I have heard that site is credible w/ their drop shipping companies listed but personally i believe it's a waste of money to gain access to such lists. Do the hard leg work, and in the end you'll be rewarded. Lastly, stay away from those turnkey e-commerce sites that require you to pay monthly. You will never make any money from them unless you spam 1,000's of emails daily. LOL
The question you have to ask yourself is how much is your time worth. For those looking for a large list of genuine dropshippers right at their fingertips, then mydssd.com is a good solution.
