hi how do you do ? this is my first post here, i just want to warn from searching on name.com as this is big company steal the searched domain after some days. i searched for some domains like quickleech.com on 18 Mar 2011 and when i tried to purchase for it on name.com i found it taken and when searched tn who.is i shocked when i found name.com is the company which taken the searched domain. again don't try to search or deal with that company.
Haha classic. Yeah, we know they watch the logs off domains and then buy them. And name.com isn't the only company doing it. Why don't people just go for registrars like Dynadot? Nice interface, not stealing domain ideas..
so u mean if i go on name.com and search random letters like this "giwhgwognuibh" over and over all day long.. they will go and register it? they will be bust soon =)
I don't think so, they should only take the good ones and as they can test domain, if the domain is not good then they can just terminate the domain without having any cost to pay. I didn't know name.com was like this. I thought this conspiracy only happens at old registrars like Network Solutions.
Wow - that is shocking. But smart on their behalf. Next time just register the domain on the spot, so this issue doesn't arise.
Isn't it also possible that someone else bought it and used their "whois protection" service (making the whois show Name.com's information)? I haven't heard of anyone doing this type of thing recently - the whole Network Solutions issue put people off from doing it.
Emm.. yes it is possible as the domain is pretty nice, was registered at 8 April 2011 compared to 18 March 2011, if it was Name.com being dirty here they could have just grab it on the same day. Why wait until April? Also the domain has a 6 years of history and can attract anyone to register it. I keep most of my domains at name.com and now I think of it, it doesn't seems like what Name.com would do. NS or Godaddy, probably but name.com has a cleaner image I suppose.
@wptheme Exactly my thoughts as well, it wouldn't make sense for them to ruin their reputation over something like this. With their income I'm quite certain they could simply make a reasonable offer to the owner if they had serious interest
Indeed. And the OP has since become a one-post wonder, simply to rant on something s/he doesn't fully understand and didn't even bother posting proof to back their claim. Carry on now, folks.
Oh, I didn't know that! Now I understand why some of the domains I checked at name.com were taken after some days.
sucks to have your domain name stolen, if you really have tought long about a domainname and then finally got it and then it gets stolen.
How can one steal what another never owned to begin with? Do you "own" your domain search results? You're not taking the OP's word for it, are you?
Well yes that is true, it's more tht your idea gets stolen tho, and that sucks either way its your domain already or not?
Well, how did they know that was "your" idea in the first place? And how or why can you consider that domain "yours" already if you haven't registered and paid for it? If I see the last copy of a book on the bookstore's shelf available but I didn't buy it there yet, is that already considered mine? Just because I thought of buying it there first?
