I have only two ways of getting traffic to my site : Traffic 1. AdWords Traffic 2. From another/ different website, where there are links to my website. Now traffic from these two methods come to my site & click on AdSense Ads. Can Google find out, which traffic (Traffic 1 or 2) is clicking AdSense Ads ? Say there are 50 clicks on a day on AdSense ads - 35 clicks from Traffic 1 & 15 clicks from Traffic 2. Can Google find that out ? Thanks.
Yes, they could if they wanted to. Google has the ability to detect the referer with their javascript so its possible they are tracking who comes from Adwords. I'd guess they are most definitely tracking this data.
Do you mean to say that they might know who comes from AdWords & who comes from another site, where my site is linked ?
Actually, on second thought they cannot know exactly where the visitor is coming from, but since Adwords is part of their own system they can tell if they are coming from Adwords vs. another site.
You mean to say that Google does not know if an AdSense clicker is from another source than AdWords ... ?
I think Google would know as it probably logs the HTTP REFERRER. Why do you care? Is Traffic 2 from a site that is banned by Google Adsense?
Have you ever seen Google Analytics? I'm pretty sure they can and do track that stuff, if you look through your cookies there is probably and adsense cookie there, and considering the amount of sites that there is in the AS program and amount traffic coming from Google (I heard they reach 80% of people on the internet which is pretty impressive ). So they could easily track atleast a rough path taken to the page with the ad... I'm pretty sure they know a lot about the clickers, and I'm glad it makes it better for us as publishers/advertsisers... Emil
Why do you think they can't know what the referrer is? Google doesn't disclose how they track invalid clicks, but monitoring referring links and/or IP addresses would be one way to do that.
Look at this thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=125669 The person apparently got a warning from Google for having traffic from StubleUpon. Google knows where the traffic on your web site is from.
Yea google are pretty in-depth when it comes to finding out people's information per click. That's why they are banning people's accounts when they dont honor their rules.
Because their code is javascript. If you place javascript on a page, the HTTP_REFERER field is going to return the page the javascript is on because it is that page that is referring javascript. They would need some other method to know the exact referer for every hit.
Statcounter code is javascript and yet they know where your trafic came from. And this is a free, beginer level service. Imagine what a big, financial motivated service (adsense) knows about your users. Theoreticaly they can track your user activity for months before they visit your site using IP traking and cookies on other sites that use adsense.
What is meant by ..."they visit your site using IP traking and cookies on other sites that use adsense"... Please tell me in details ... thanks ...
I meant that adsense can use their javascript to record the IP of a visitor a month ago on another site and add this info on a log, including what ads they clicked and how many times. Thus creating a record about the behaviour of every user that ever saw an adsense ad. For those of you who think that it is imposible and useless to do that, remember that Google Search is a "free" service that copies text from all internet pages that he encounter on the net (bilions of sites) and stores them on it's servers. I think that they are less unique users on the internet than sites.
Ahem ... why is it difficult to understand what you are saying ? Though I am new to AdSense, AdSense & Programming ...
