I read someone saying that stubmleupon was good for getting traffic but i just signed up and got a warning message from google about invalid impressions. Any ideas how I can stop stumbeupon traffic now since i seem to be getting in trouble in adsense. I got almost 100 unques in the space of a half hour with a site just open today.

Yes, Stumbleupon traffic is a bit iffy as far as Google is concerned. It might be seen as a way of boosting adsense.

I can't answer your question but you might want to consider pulling your ads temporarily in order to keep G happy while you work this out.

    Better safe than sorry. ;)

I've had a look through their site and I can't find an answer. I have contacted them about it. Don't want my account get banned over this.

The only problem is that anyone can add your site to it if they like it. So how do you stop that?

There doesn't seem to be a way to stop stumble from doing its thing, and you certainly can't stop someone from stumbling one of your pages.

In a way you are lucky. I tried submitting one of my pages to stumble, and it got about 30 hits from there over the next two days, then nothing at all after that. Perhaps best to remove your ads, wait a few days, then put them back, or simply explain to Googs that you are getting a spike due to stumble. Surely they see spikes all the time, don't they?

I can't imagine Google would have anything against someone suddenly getting more traffic. But effects like the "slashdot effect" need to be managed, or it could get you into trouble, or blow up your server.

Did you simply vote "I like it" for your site, or did you actually blog about it in your Stumbleupon profile? Or did you use the Share button?

If you used the Share button I can see why Google wouldn't like the traffic (as it's kinda like broadcasting on MySpace). But otherwise I can't see why they'd object?

In the stumble toolbar, simply click pages and then for each of the pages you have recommended click either "edit" or "del" - the latter removes the listing from the database entirely.

I've been on stumbleupon for about a year and haven't had any problems. However, I don't get a lot of traffic from it either.

I had over 600 hits from Stumbleupon on one of my sites in two hours after I 'stumbled' one page of my site. The traffic was useless traffic and all visitors left after viewing only the one page. I have since removed my page from the database and the traffic has returned to normal

stumbleupon traffic is pretty much useless unless your site has the ability to go viral. A page having funny flash game can be a hit there but not a 500 word article.

Yes the traffic from Stumbleapon is a little iffy for some types of sites, but for entertainment sort of sites then it can be of some use.

About Adsense, I wouldn't think it would really affect me as I don't earn on a CPM basis. I only earn on a CPC basis.

Adsense isn't going to ban you for getting traffic from stubleupon. If you are really worried then you can use php to stop showing adsense to certain people.

    I would just ignore it.
