Directory

Well i have just bought the domain www.thepaiddirectory.com and i am planning to make a PHPLB site but i have not bought the script yet! is there any owners of such a site that could give me a few little pointers like how they advertised and how many links they have etc ?

It works just like any other site. Set a budget for it and find quality directories to submit to.

Go with this bidding directories that has a minimum of $1 and submit to those that are well indexed and promoted as many as you can. There are list around here that you can use to submit them.

Submit to $$ like www.bigweblinks.com atleast the minimum bids, this site receives a lot more traffic than your average bidding directory because people are curious to see who has invested money into it, when your site is listed there, they may want to put money into yours knowing that you had invested.

As much as you can, get "freebies" there are a ton of free directories and quite a few sites that are listings bid for position directories, try to get into there.

Make a blog site or get posted in a blog as much as you can. Get Stumbled Upon,Deliciou.us and many other places like that. Then I think in a couple of months you'll be doing okay depending on how active you are in promoting your directory.

But do remember that there are some of us that will keep an eye on bidding directories that maybe questionable. See the ethical threads here.

yup, start with free directories and submit to a couple of paid quality directories shld get u started off just fine. Participate in this forum and get your directory known too..... then u can go from there

 

What you have to do is promote, promote, and then, promote some more.
Stpes:
- Decide what budget you will use (i usually make plans for three months periods)
- Get your site up and running.
- Search for quality sites and contact them for links.
- Check these sites using multiple tools and parameters (PR, PS, backlinks, age, inner PR, traffic).
- Choose some of them (according to your budget).
- Have your links placed.
- Join forums like DP to discuss and announce your offers.
- Be consistent to your clients.
- Review your directory often and try to keep it clean.
- Make plans and try to make them work.
- Don't get disappointed. You are going to need at least 6 months (2 PR updates) before your directory starts returning some money to you.
