Mike Moores movie "Fahrenheit 9/11" is the first documentary that has broke the 100 million dollar mark. He made the film for 6 million they said in the news report. Good timing may play into the great interest also. Bob PM me so we can stir up some CT's, we need to get this economy going again somehow
Except, of course, the F911 wasn't a documentary. It was a heavy piece of propaganda disguised as a documentary. F911 traces it's artistic heritage back to Goebels, not back to National Geographic. DP, do you think that the AdSense Revenue Sharing program is causing these weird topics to be started?
Maybe you should email Peter Jennings at ABC News and tell him, cus that is what he called it. I know, why take his word for it, the guy has only been in the media business about 50 years.
It is very simple SB, it is documenting something in real life, did MM make up the story? It is not fiction now is it, seemed to be based on current events to me, listen, I will be honest, I have not seen anything but the leader ads on the flick. But the film is about real news events, do you think the main stream media is less sensational when they covered the World Trade Towers being hit by Jetliners?
Anthony: You have just committed an argumentum ad verecundiam. Examining the five conditions for a legitimate argument from authority: 1. The authority must have competence in an area, not just glamour, prestige, rank or popularity. Status: Failure Explanation: Pete is a talking head, not an analyst. 2. The judgement must be within the authority's field of competence. Status: Failure Explanation: This question is not one of posture or enunciation, Pete's fields of excellence. 3. The authority must be interpreted correctly. Status: Arguable. Exaplanation: Pete clearly stated "documentary", but was in fact simply using/misusing the terminology with which Michael inapproriately labeled his film. 4. Direct evidence must be available, at least in principle. Status: Arguable. Explanation: How would you show direct evidence that this piece of propaganda qualifies as a documentary? 5. A technique is needed to adjucate disagreements among equally qualified authorities. Status: Failure Explanation: As Pete is completely unqualified, that puts him in the same position as about 6 billion other equally qualified authorities. It is impossible, in practice, to adjudicate amongst 6 billion equally qualified talking heads. You need five points to win. You have, at most, two. Four follow-up questions: 1. Why did you create this thread, when you admit to not having seen the film? 2. Did you vote in the poll, even though you admit to not having seen this film? 3. Why did you create this thread in the DigitalPoint Forums? 4. Why did you create this thread at all? Before you answer, however, do us all a favor and please read Fifty-nine Deceits in Fahrenheit 9/11
Will, why did you get involved with Traffic Swarm? You seem to be a smart guy by your last post, so why did you do that? Fact is that the movie is based on real historical events that really HAPPENED. Do you agree that the World Trade Centers were attacked? They did fall down after the jet/bombs hit them, did they not? Mike Moore made a movie that is making a lot of money, a lot of folks are going to see it, do you agree with that? We can all ask a lot of questions Will, but some will pick and choose the ones they will answer. To answer one of yours, the reason I started the thread is because it was in the news today, just like 9/11 has been in the news since 2001. The news was this Will, that Fahrenheit 9/11 was the first documentary in history to generate over 100 Million in sales, News Will, Just News! This is a fact, is it not Will?
I think the red card in Anthony's Profile and the fact that he's made 851 posts about nothing gives you your answer...
That last post comes from a guy that presented a webmaster forum with the question on how to ship a large block of wood from the UK to HK. I would stack up my 800 and some posts to your claim to fame anytime.
haha good call! However, at least my post was structured and had helpful responses about sending something to another country. Also, I'd recommend going back that post (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1349) and taking a look at your responses: "But I thought you were a Billionare? Two Million is too much for you?" Or perhaps: "I can buy a one way bus ticket, can I get to Hong Kong on a bus?"
You are my friend Misohoni, so you can continue to insult me if you choose, just don't bitch when it bounces back at you, that is fair is it not?
As a Canadian, I will give my take. This movie was an outrage to a society. Not a documentary in any way. A movie that was a political platform for the creator. I hated it. I thought, big deal, you could make this movie about any president in the last 30 years. If I was a soldier overseas, fighting for what I believed was protecting my countries freedom, this movie would piss me off beyond all belief. MM did a good job with Bowling for Columbine. But this, he lost all respect I had for him. Stand behind your president no matter what. When the time comes to replace him (her - for Hilary in a few years ) then you do so the right way, by a vote. I have a hard time calling you my family to the south after what MM did. He had no right. Regardless of whether Bush is an idiot or not, whether he is finishing what his father started, looking for oil etc..... it doesn't matter. What does matter is the thousands of troops overseas fighting for what they believe is right. MM should be thankful he is an American. In another country, he would already be dead...
So what are you saying, that the CIA never killed an American citizen? The Germans had the same problem with blindly following a leader, can you recall what his name was? Just cus we go to war does not mean it is a just war. Should we have kept supporting Richard Nixon also? Being an American means that we have the right to dispute any President as we did in the Vietnam War my man. You were not even born then I would venture to say. So all the preaching from the North is welcomed since that is what forum is about, but it seems that you have a slight problem with free expression, that is what the movie is about.
I'm not insulting you Anthony (nor your friend), it's just that I want to see Digitial Point remain as a great site. We have an amazing group of posters here, just seems most of your replies to posts aren't relevant to the actual thread/site. As for my take on F9/11, I haven't seen it. However, I don't agree with "standing by your President no matter what" is the right way to go. You're letting him get away with things, turning a blind eye only to protest after it's happened. MM gives a refreshing change and an eye opener to American's to which we in "foreign countries" knew already for many years.
Digital Point is a great site no matter what I post. Next this is general chat, read the subject header. If you do not like the thread, which is not the case, then why are you posting? You are always welcome in any thread at any time, but when you come on with cheap insults, do not expect that you will not be hit back. I put up with a lot of crap from a lot of folks that come after me just because they think it is their duty. Maybe you are one that likes to vote my reputation down, but I really do not care. Like I said, I consider you a friend, but to come on and take a cheap shot does not seem friendly to me.
No, it's because there is one member who's life revolves completely around conspiracy theories, and he uses this forum as his soap box because we are the only ones that have not banned him yet (but I think that day is coming).
Simple. I test and examine many things (many very weird things) as part of the Internet Search Engines FAQ and the Search Engine Reverse Engineering Project.
