    Imocr;

I have only one question, imagine for a minute that one day all admins will post In the forum that they are all pedophiles and they want to have hundreds of "affirmative view" listings in DMOZ; would this make any difference for you or you would still thank them for their hard work? ;)

Just be at least honest to yourself when you are answering it and you don't even need to admit the truth in this forum.

I totally agree with you. I am totally dysfunctional as ass kisser which is a real disadvantage in DMOZ culture and many other situations. Unfortunately, I can not fix this defect in myself but I am glad that you are doing so well. ;)

Now just wait a cotten picking minute :p - you left out the last sentence.
So I guess I didn't prove your point after all. We can keep going back and forth - or we can agree to disagree.

I've pointed to a couple of threads here in internal discussions - but that doesn't mean that everything that was posted afterwards (in that thread I pointed to) was part of the reason for pointing to that thread.

You're just talking in circles, lmocr. The DP thread in question drew attention to a problem. That drew the attention of several DMOZ editors and eventually some Admins. Those Admins then took over a month to make a decision as to what to do. For you to now claim that the DP thread had nothing to do with that process is beyond stupid.

Dvduvall posted it on the 26 of January. And the European Editor posted it on the 28 of January.

I suppose, imocr next posting will be in DMOZ forum about how you have posted DMOZ internal information in outside forum and therefore you should be removed as editor for abuse. ;)

Dvduval posted about gay sites and then someone else posted about spanking sites on the 26th. The topic the admins discussed did not arise in that thread until after the posting in the internal forums. Then someone sent brizzie a message (probably someone who had seen the internal posting) and he posted on the thread. The first posting about that topic was the last post on page 4. Brizzie even said in that post that someone had sent him a message about it.

Just because that thread was started about one topic (gays and spanking), it doesn't mean the other topic (the subject of the admin discussion) was discussed in that thread before it appeared in the thread.

    Abuse...???

I am compared to Harry Potter competing for the World Heavyweight Title against Mike Tyson.:p compared to this Pathetic Editor who said " Our strategy is simple: we generally ignore all webmasters." in RZ. This is what gives other Editors a Bad Reputation. That is Internet Racism as was claimed. And as always The Bunch just let it slipped away. (File an Abuse Crap)

That Editor should be demoted or be given a Disciplinary Action.

What planet are you living on?

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=53712

That thread was about two issues from the beginning: (1) pro-child pornography sites and pro-pedophilia sites, and (2) multiple linking to galleries ("deep linking") in Adult categories.

Both of those issues were raised by dduval in his first two or three posts.

With people like you and your buddies at the Resourceless Zone as editors, it's no bloody wonder DMOZ is in a mess!

Can you really blame AOL for something that is out of their hands? If they did quality control it will cost a lot more expenses for which would be extremely unprofitable!

    1. Take off all porn sites.
    2. Forgive and forget - the end.

I think there is something to be said on both sides - the issue was raised internally before it came here via anonymous tip-off of the existence of the offending category. As to whether the end result would be the same or different had it not been raised here too no-one can possibly know. There is no doubt that information and views here would have influenced some editors in their views and internal discussion. Continually asking awkward questions few would dare to raise internally would also have added to that influence. Some will know I raised a number of Adult-related issues internally in December including some related to the protection of underage editors and my impression was that the debate was being stiffled and railroaded out by various parties. That impression may have affected the timing of my departure from editing though not the actual decision as it proved to me an unwillingness to take real issues seriously and instead focus on window-dressing trivia. Therefore it is not beyond the bounds of possibility that debating the listing of pedophile related sites would also be sidelined, suppressed, and squashed had it not been for the external pressure. But ultimately no-one actually knows the extent of the influence of this forum in the outcome. Even a very minor impact in making editors think about the issues would seem to me to be worth the effort or I wouldn't have passed on the tip-off. And it seems to me that the end result, however it was achieved, is a positive step for DMOZ.

Yeah, and a Major Ethnic Cleansing of these Traditional High Ranking Abusive Admins should be removed or lowering their present Ranks would be a positive course to achieve.

An example is lowering a present Meta's rank to EditAll would be a very nice example that the Directory is really serious in changes.

A better move would be lowering a present Meta's rank to Dismissed.
