Ok, first off I have to say that we're in the small potatoes business here. I webmaster two websites of interest to this thread that used to have AdSense ads all over them or to the right. Specifically as I have beeen using a fixed size layout the ads were placed outside the "frame" (not that I use frames... you know what I mean). About a week ago I got inspired by the advice of TOPS and others in this thread and put my adsense ads in a different location on both websites. Results so far: Good things: My click rates have nearly doubled. There may be better click rates to come even, as I finished the second website a few days later, so it hasn't had much time to show the new results yet. Bad things: I only have around 40-50 uniques per day in total, so I need more time than most in here to get a trustworthy statistics. Just thought I'd share. Websites are located in sig and in profile.
I believe the visual impression should tell you "more than a thousand words" in the sense that when you take one look at the blend-in between my ads and my navigational links, you see the point I'm getting at much clearer than by a description here. And no, it's not a cheap trick for luring a bunch of extra visitors in my stats for one night It's going to ruin the ctr anyway when (if) a lot of visitors come by to see the ads - my stats are that small
