I can't get them 5 ads showing side-by-side

In my (only) defense I did it last night on top of redwine and just before hitting the sack, however:

I put on the 5 co-op ads on my ceramic site and put them in a div with 80% width and 10% margin absolutely positioned at 1000px from top.

Couldn't figure out what in the world to do to make them show side by side?

Also I have this black background that I also want for the ads, but then the text under each link doesn't show as it is also in black...

Can this be fixed in the php file? I don't want to look like I'm trying to hide something, so please help me out here  :p

Miko, how did you brake up the blog entry into separate links and text?

Are they still there? I don't see any links at all on the page you posted.

Yes they are there (on my screen at least), bottom left, vertically aligned banners.

While we're at it... I get black space to the left of the content (FF 1.3) but the ads on the right cause a horizontal scroll bar. It's pushed to the right (1024 screen width) by just a few too many pix it seems.

Also, that heavy footer, is that doing you any good? Compared to each page's content, I think it takes up too much static bulk potentially causing duplicate content. Most pages even have more footer content than real content. I doubt the links do you much good either.

When I deleted all static footers on all my sites a few months back I only saw my rankings rising.

If today was a test I did not do good  :p

Now I have to pretend to be sick, run home from work, tell my wife and kids to stop harassing me and get down to fixing what I've been breaking...

Thx for all the unwarranted but much needed advice. I'll report back later tonight (local time :D ) when I have done something good - or in despair when I wanna go hitting my head against the wall.

On a serious note: Footer was a stupid, stupid side idea from last night... I only had it on the main page to begin with...

This is what happens when you get busy with too many things at the same time.

Thank god it's a long weekend now :)

PS: I now have the - hold on tight here - enormous amount of 460 or so in co-op weight. It can only increase, so watch out everybody, I'm coming through...

Very simple - and totally unintentionally at first:

I made a link in the blog title (to my "main" site). That's it - no secrets really.

Afterthough: My real "moneymaker" (yes it's still a joke, but at least it's moving in the right directione every day) is a danish site making it less interesting for an international forum.

 I don;t know what is going on with this forum, OR my machine but Yfs1's Avatar is now the post edit button. The post edit button is now an icon of a white paper with black text and Miko's 'Big Grin' smiley is Yfs1's Avatar!

(Have screenshots if you think I'm retarded...)

PS even worse... All big smileys are his avatar now. The real edit button has shifted to the quote button and the quote button is now the quick reply button... Even in this advanced post screen Yfs1's avatar shows up (in place of the big grin smiley).

I'm so sorry for you TOPS30... I've had this happen to me on windows a few years back. Had to reinstall - format and reinstall that is - to make things work again.

Hopefully you are or have got someone with more expertise than me to help you out of this situation.

You have my sympathy at least :(

Absolutely... Your story cracked me up completely :D :p :D

but out of respect for the feeling of despair one has when confronted with this particular kind of anarkism I didn't want to sound too light about things...

    Now let's see a screenshot of yfs1 haunting TOPS30

Ok, now my wife is pissed and my kids don't see me (Getting everybody pleased again is my very next project now) but I believe the ceramic website is ok for inspection now :D

I put the adsense on a different location so the site can be viewed in 800*600 and maybe even get more clicks out of it.

I got rid of the footer... well some of the text anyway. It seems the news links in the footer got indexed by Google after a couple of weeks, and now my blog has 11 pages (of relative nonsense - I'm not that creative in this area yet) indexed by Google. This was the reason I put them there, so I'm happy with that.

Thank you all for stepping by. I got way more response on this thread than I imagined I would get. Good advice too, really appreciated

Even the fact that Shawn moved the thread to another sub-category and subsequently told me about it in a minus-5 points rep is appreciated... ok, well not really, but what can you do if the man has a bad hair day? :p

Yes looks a lot better indeed. (I'd still move those footer links to a sitemap though :) )

I got accepted for AdSense yesterday (for my personal stuff) and did the same trick with the AdLinks. It's strange how the normal ad block sometimes gives gibberish but the ad links are spot on theming wise  . I.e. the normal ads are about blogging and the ad links about the subject I wrote about.

Thanks for all the roses guys. :) :)

You were all on my a-list beforehand, and now even more. I had been slightly annoyed for weeks with the website look of things and this thread got me to make the changes needed.

I'm contemplating... For such a small (30 pages) website would there be any point of a sitemap at all? Maybe for the benefit of an overview of all the pictures in the gallery? I don't know... maybe I'll give it a shot sometime later.

Never had any troubles getting all 30 pages indexed thanks to yfs1's thread on utilizing myyahoo/blog/ping

My main worry (for you :) ) is bulk static site wide content. I'd keep it down as much as possible to give each page as much as possible unique content. But if it works like this it's fine. And like tis it probably helps in ranking on Y and M (who don't seem to discount sitewides (as much)).
