I can see that and kind of understand that running a forum and business like this takes an enormous amount of time.

I still think it shouldn't stop anyone from at least *acknowledging* that they know about this. Minimal effort required, if any. But I guess as long as we keep this thread alive, we're in better shape..

When I see something like this:

    I do something like this:

No need for any new "freebies" section...

May be it's too evil but, what gets to me is that usually the next thing that "nice" person will do is to run his scammy thread and refer to his iTrader rating as a guarantee of his legitimacy.

Yup, that should be done, but some people probably don't want to lose some of their green for it :p

Well, trades are free but do show a good amount of effort so the itrader does represent it. Also, by implementing this rule, it certainly allows for $0.01 sales to bypass it. Ultimately, I think it's left up to the user to decide what is an itrader. You may however want to consider a "value" of the itrader so that at the very least a person looking at the itrader could know if that 500 itrader is for $1 of effort or $1MM in effort. my two cents.

At the moment it does not look like any changes are going to be implemented. But I don't think any substantial thought out suggestions have been made yet.

Until someone comes up with the solution, before you buy somehing -

check what the DPer has been given itrader for

It's easy to do - click on their itrader and then click on the links to the left leading you to the original sales thread. Voila!

People who have read the sticky in the B/S/T will know that I believe that it is up to the buyer to do their research carefully. It doesn't take to long to acquire the skills to sniff out a cheeky scamster from a genuine good offer.

Just since this thread was posted there seems to be another explosion of people posting free crap and asking for rep and iTrader as payment.

Still no chance for a Freebie section?

I'm afraid that opening a "Freebie" section will only lead to a new group of useless threads that will be offering the same crap but, this time say for 5 cents...

eBay has this same problem with their feedback system and I have no idea of what could be the solution.

If anybody has a good idea, please, post here! ;)

I saw that originally but the thing is, paying 5 cents is a pain in the ass for most of the rep traders so that will slow them way down. They mass post to these so they aren't going to site there and put through payments.

I don't agree that there will be nearly as many.

Nop dont agree either, a freebie section is infact a great solution.
And in this case its a gamble shawn might just make this.

    Edit
Well there will be some work for mods at the beginning..
like moving all threads to the freebie section...thats about it

Yeah, you all have some fab ideas :)

I am in favour of having a weighted system for the iTrader, because at the moment and freebie offer is given the same significance as a $10,000 deal. I wonder if that could be built into the system...

Yeah, this makes sense, maybe a deal was under a dollar category or something.
I notice people also offer free word cloud links a lot now adays.

surely a seperate section has to be there for freebies, otherwise its quite easy to show up big itrader figures.
