lets hope not, paying a $50 fee to use the BST section sounds a bit crazy, because i'm sure that many people started their designer career/selling their services/products here with no money

everything needs to have a startup

i agree with the $50/yr fee but it should be applied after 3months of membership(so people can earn some money to pay the fee)

    just my 2 cents

    cheers,
    Tom

I think the $50 is supposed to cut out the crap and scams that is produced by the new members. Allowing them to use the BST for free is the opposite of what should be happening.

Paid listings never made a clean marketplace. look at sitepoint. fake bids and risk of wasting time and money.

    everything has alternatives

for example: allow access to BST forums only after you have 500posts and atleast 150 reputation points

This maybe useful to filter the crap stuff being sold but it affects us genuine traders more than the others.
I'm fine with an annual fee of say $100 and you get permission to post in the BST section and make let's say 50 threads after which you pay $20 for each batch of 10 new threads you need to create.

worst ideal ever, nowadays many things are made free for use,

buy sell trade cost 50$ a year, so it's ~4.5$ a month. not too high, but i wonder the quality of the forum after that, will it belike this. will it worth the annual fee to post and to look in BST forum

example, ebay seller cost some $, but buyer is free to register.

so i think there should be a mixed up with free and paid. like a courter, free 30 posts a month, after that, fee apply, it may be a ton of work

Finally, due to the amount of duplicate accounts DP will be a paid forum. Again, the final price has not been determined but more than likely will be $50.00/year.

    April fools day?
If that's real.. Lol, good luck. =P

Can someone who is a mod please clarify this? I really don't think that in their positions they should be causing this amount of stir in the forum? Which leads me to believe that it is true.....

I think this whole X posts before being able to deal in BST is ridiculous. It's going to limit everyone to dealing with people who trade regularly. Some of the best business I've done (both from a buying and selling standpoint) has been with people who have never considered selling their site / advertising / service before. If I am buying advertising, I don't want to deal with people who have 200+ sites and are making it their business. If I am buying a site, I don't want to deal with people who have sold 50+ sites. I want the people who come here selling as a one off. They're the best deals in BST, don't throw out the chance of that for a few scammers.

I do think it was a joke... however, adding higher restrictions will not work. Getting 150 rep is as simple as signing rep to 15 long timers and hoping they all rep back. The 500 post requirement is not that hard either. I see pointless re-worded posts all the time, and that by-passes the "i agree" / "PM sent" type nonsense that currently results in infractions. So in the long run, such restrictions just increase the spamminess DP already suffers from...

The BEST way to help clean up DP and keep it free would be to utilize the REP system as it is and give reds out to all the crappy posts, spammers, and scammers, and then use the report button for anything and everything that does not belong. After all, DP is free, and in the end, society rules!
