Apple doesn't even ipad.com so why bother worrying about it now. Just start up a wordpress blog and put ipad specs on it...or sell different pads.....table pads, coffee pads, mouse pads

Check out the MadTV parody about iPad: MadTV - Apple iPad
This video was made back in 2005. It's jokes.

Go on Sedo, DP BST ,or any domain selling websites and check for iPad domains. People are trying to make some quick cash. The funny thing is all these people are registering the domain this week and trying to sell it right away. They're forgetting the fact that they got to wait 60days for transfer.

Let's put it this way, folks.

If you registered the domain with the intent to make money off of Apple's new
thingimajig, then definitely you can expect trouble. Do not expect that others
seemingly getting away with it means you can to, unless maybe you live in an
    area beyond their reach.

    If losing a $8, $9 or $10 a year domain registration to a trademark holder isn't
a big deal, then I guess it's not. If it is a big deal, then don't do it.

With the Apple name being a trademark id check with them first. I know they wont allow it if your site will be about Jailbreaking or Modding.

    Good Luck with it.

In all honesty, if you provide a note on the site - " We do not endorse any apple product " you will be ok. A friend runs a apple fan site and apple threatened - he put up a note and hes fine now.

When apple came out with the ipad, they owned no domain names
with ipad in it. The person who owns ipad.com will make a million
just like the person who owned iphone.com.

Apple does not mind domains, as they love their fans. Except when
they feel the need to use a domain name themselves, or if
they see it as a detriment to the company. Remember also that
cyper-squatting is illegal. That is, you cannot register a domain you
know is associated with a company, sit on it, and expect to blackmail
them into paying up. If you can prove you need the domain for a
serious purpose, you have a shot.

Also remember that any domain with ipad was probably fair game until apple
came out with the ipad. Any domain registered after that may become
an apple target. That is, provided you had a real, bonafide use for a
    domain with ipad in it.
