Which would be the best for my site:

    -Sports blog
-Will feature videos from you tube
    -Possibly interviews
    -Daily updates
    -Additional pages for player profiles

For additional pages and player categories, the best is to use wordpress :)

If you are getting a domain for the sports blog, then wordpress it is.

If you are not, then you can consider blogger ( i heard it looks/works much better now since it is out of beta) or wordpress.com

For additional pages, wordpress is a better choice.

I think you should go for wordpress, even if you don't have a domain.
Go to http://www.wordpress.com and signup for a free blog.

    i'd go with wordpress.

but if you're starting out, why not set up accounts at both and test it for yourself.

ps: when we say wordpress. i believe most of us are referring to hosted wordpress on your own domain, rather than wordpress.com.

I'd definitely recommend a hosted WP setup.

I run a football blog here and Wordpress is a dream come true for all the features and the amount of help out there for when you get stuck.

I started the blog listed for a hobby but it's quickly turned into an obsession and a decent money stream.

When scrolling in these threads you notice wordpress is more common used by webmasters.

Good luck with choosing your CMS software.

With blogger i think there is more chance that your site my get a few random visitors with the "recently updated" blogs on the blogger homepage.

I use wordpress for most, but im tryin blogger out today. (and today, it seems to be down)

The number of visitors you will get will be very little, infact, if you want some visitors to your blog quickly, just include it in your forum sig, you'll get some traffic;)

I personally use WordPress and love it. So I recommend it.

But something I'd like to ask is, with Blogger, can you place advertisements that aren't AdSense? Like TLA, paid posting, etc?

I always used Wordpress, but I'm gonna try the hosted blogger version. Updating the software of several blogs is time consuming...
