My vote goes to wordpress, much more configurable and there's loads of scripts and plugins, but that's just my opinion!

You really should try them both for yourself. They're both good.

But my vote goes to WP too.

I haven't tried Blogger but use WP on a couple of sites.
What would be the benefits of using Blogger over Wordpress?

I use blogger. It's free, easy, & I am making money and paying no hosting fees whatsoever.

I far prefer WP, but I got PR4 on Blogspot after about 3 months (1 update). I still haven't got off 0 when hosted elsewhere. I don't know why..

I don't know why it's even compared to blogger with the endless number of themes, plugins, hacks, developers and designers wordpress is getting. Or maybe I could be overlooking something.

jayL: Ultimately both systems publish blogs - so a comparison might be valid.

but you're right, they are worlds apart.

I think if you have your own server you should use Wordpress. If not, then get blogger.

How did your site even get hacked? Did you leave the admin page password admin admin? Forgot to set the config file to read only? Didn't put any index redirects files inside non browsable the folders? Used the fantastico's old versions of WP?

I prefer WP over blogger. Although I have both, I just am more comfortable with WP. Blogger is a little tweaked in regards to their HTML etc, I find it easier with WP adjusting anything in HTML.

Ooopps -- nothing to do with WP -- guess who forgot to reset permissions from 777 after an install of Vanilla of all things!!! Give the buggers a chink of light and  -- all back to normal now!

Good to hear that. At least now there's still zero victims of hacked WP running. If there was one, I'd be on a search for exploit frenzy. Don't want my clients to lose what they've build you know.
