I installed wordpress on my server a few days ago. I didnt need a plugin to optimize it, I just opened the header.php and changed the title, added description and keyword metatags, changed the text on the top of my page to my keywords (it used to display my blog name, which i replaced in the header image), added them in my footer, and edited some of the sidebar.php sections and links to use some of my keywords. Does it sound like I did this right? Its not giving me errors and the source file in firefox seems to read correctly. Im pretty new to blogging. Instant positions seo tool gave it a 4.9 (i missed something in a metatag) I love that tool, even though it only really looks at meta info, its still fun.
I recently moved to wordpress and was pretty concerned with SEO myself.. did a lot of research and made a list of wordpress seo plugins and resources that helped me out. Take a look if you wanna !
I was wondering about the same thing. I started a blog on Blogger and I started getting traffic from Google within a couple of days; blogs that I have started on my own domains with Wordpress take weeks and even months sometimes before getting any Google love. I thought that it probably has to do with Blogger being Google's product but with only one data point I cannot be certain. Do people know if Google favours Blogger more than others?
I am also thinking the same thing, but have choosen Wordpress for the ease, templates and plug-ins, but then I havent looked into Googles Blogger much.
Both Blogger and MT seem to be really out of date. Right now WordPress is pretty much leading the game. I love it and it seems like it gets better all the time.
Ive actually had a great experience with Wordpress since I made this post and would recommend it very highly over many including TypePad for corporate bloggers!
