Hi, heard it's good to place an image next to each add or above link unit ads to increase CTR. However, they say google wants you to have border aronund the ads in such a case. Anybody uning it?
It's not tabu. Check this thread. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=17104 Points to note- You must have a visible border between the ad and the image(s), and you must not use misleading graphics which may confuse the user as to what the ad is about. This is all in an effort not to cause "undue attention" to the ad.
This has been beat to death on the forums. It's not tabu or against the TOS as long as you do it correctly. Place a light border around the ad or between the image and the ad. Don't use images that point to the ads or entice people to click them. Use common sense and it works fine.
Well, I think it increases CTR because the the images give the impression that its a link within a site rather than an ad.
Yeap , thats correct as long as you follow the TOS there will be no problem. I wonder that why dont people read the whole TOS to solve all their problems..
Sure I have will and time to read 20 TOS pages every other day . I think I'll give AdSense icons a try, my AdSense is doing miserable.
When in doubt, email google and ask for a review of your implementation. The graphics and ads work because people's eyes are naturally attracted by the graphic. The issue is if the picture is too attractive (like naked people). which is not only totally inappropriate to the ad by any stretch of the imagination, but draw undue attention. The other issue is if your graphic is too specific/branded like if your pictures are cans of coke, (which is very specific) but the ad below the graphic is for pepsi. This would be misleading. In the last example I used for pepsi ads, pictures of various generic beverages in a glass would be better. Hope that helps
Damn it... it's been a while and I still haven't found some time to incorporate the AdSense image "booster"... Shame for me
