I'm having a bit of trouble with adsense on my site currently, i'm wondering if you fine folks would be able to give me some tips on how i can improve the situation. I run a site where i post drawings daily (that are sometimes funny, sometimes not) and i get around 200-300 uniques a day. I've had adsense on the site for about a week now, and CTR is beyond poor. I'm guessing i must be doing something fundamentally wrong, yesterday i had 1200+ ad impressions, and zero clicks. Is there anything i could do to improve the situation without cluttering up the page? The url for the site is http://www.donotupload.com/ (I can't use live links yet apparently). Any advice anyone could give me would be _greatly_ appreciated. Thanks in advance guys :).

Rjx I think you need to work on keywords, the ads you having now is not related to your site.

out of your 1200 impressions how many people you think actually scroll all the way to the bottom of the page? i doubt many do. i'd say consider moving the ads higher

I agree. One of the main tips I have heard is that ads "above the fold" do much better.
You could try a leaderboard under your banner. Then when people are waiting for the drawing to load (as it seems to be quite slow) they might click an ad.
I also think that putting Adlinks to the left or right of the news section might work as well.
    Nice artwork btw. :D

i love your site. though you need to appreciate that most of the people visiting your site are not "good" clickers. they are most probably not actively looking to buy anything. therefore they will be unlikely to click any of your ads. the only reason they would click is to "escape" (e.g. because they arrived at your site by accident). in order to get a higher "escape" click rate you put the ads on the top left of the page with no other competing links. give it a go.

the ads i received (here in australia) were as follows -

    Need removal boxes?
Free delivery - all the materials you need to your door & we buy back

    Document Storage
Australia-Wide Service plus Online Records Management

I have nearly tripled my CTR using many strategies, which are oulined in my free adsense newsletter.

One tip is putting the ads on the upper left site of the page, the upper right hand side, and imbedded in the middle. However, this may not work for everyone.

Another valuable tip is to keep the contant of your pages very focused. If you have webdite regarding dogs, don't discuss dong cleaning and dog training on the same page. Break it up into 2 different pages, and your adsense ads will be better targeted.
