Wow, that is too funny. Now I know that the cat is the BRAIN and controls Shawn. I think the cat is an alien who uses mind control to get out his ideas and plans.

Why do you need to make sure you get 50 posts?

    For the adsense revenue?

You're nuts - start a site and post 50 times on that...

You're almost guaranteed to make more that way.

I haven't seen Shawn comment on if the growth in members is truly significant ... but I would be surprised if it ends up being anything beyond just a minor blip. While mainstream press gets a lotta coverage, my limited experience with it suggests it doesn't spur too much action, especially for argueably a niche (although growing) area like this.

Yeah. So far most of the people who know about that article are probably already DP members. Most of the rest probably don't really care. And would you really want people signing up here just to share in the AdSense revenue? As SEbasic pointed out (and Shawn in the article), we're not talking big bucks here... we're just talking about "a nice dinner", which I assume means the double cheeseburger value meal at the Golden Arches.

There will be people signing up because of the $10k/month mention as well, I'd bet. Then once they see all the work involved, they'll go *poof*.

Congrats on the coverage in the NY Times Shawn. I'm curious to see how many people will read that, make note of the $10K per month mentioned, and think it would be easy to match you. ;)

I think they were calling everyone who makes money with Adsense the "shadow payroll" just using Shawn and Digitalpoint as an example.

Unfortunately those posting thinking they are going to make a lot of money get in 200+ posts of absolute dribble before realizing its a fun little gimmick, not a money maker.

Look at Minstrel, he has like 9,000 of those posts and still thinks someone is going to click on of his ads some day and "make it all worth it"

Come on, you know that's why you 9000 post guys keep at it. That one elusive click that buys you the beach house you've always dreamed of. :p

It's certianly the only reason I keep posting on here - I'd have left ages ago if it weren't for the ad revenue.
