Adsense and Images and Alt messages

I know some folks place little images, or icons etc above or near each adsense ad, to use as an attention grabber.

Of course the hope is, some folks will click on the images or/and the adsense code.

Now, my question is, can we use the images alt messages to our advantage ?
For instance what would be wrong if someone moved a mouse pointer over an image and it said: Free Images - click link for details, or Click below, etc

Of course any messages are meant to just get visitors to click on the adsense links. Is this a violation of TOS ? Is it just sneaky ? Or like some who are doing it now, just another little way to increase C** ?

IMO - that would be in violation...as the link would be telling visitors to click the ad.

What about other messages then, that say nothing about clicking any links ?
    For instance:
Free Images - Get em now

    or even,
    Click Now !

Nothing says click on any of the adsense ads........
These are all just alt messages that appear when the mouse pointer passes over the images on the webpages placed near the adsense ads

You have a lot of freedom with the ALT text, but just stay away from using the verb "click"--or any similar verbs--IMO. I use the ALT text for SEO purposes myself; I think it's the best way to utilize the ALT attribute.

    As always, IMO.

i would stay away from it. if the image isn't clickable, then you are still using it to have them click on the ad. I would use the alt tag for what it was intended for.

do not use alt text as a call for action! it's totally against the TOS. the images without such alt text will work well as it is and will not put your adsense acct in geopardy

Did you ever notice that if the "alt tag" is keyword rich the ads change as well?

The basic rule is "no incentives". While your rather clever idea does not technically seem to violate that rule it would be hard to argue with Google if they decided to pull your account and you were doing this.

I find a good way of working this out is to imagine I'm sitting with Google folks and explaining how a particular strategy is within the TOS....if I find myself quietly chuckling I know I've crossed the line.

Yuppers. AND, another great advantage: you will get traffic from people doing an image search in G, Y!, etc. ;)

Will this be in violation? According to the posts i read here somewhere (someone sent an email to google and ask about it) it's not a violation if you do not "call to action".

Does it work? You bet! Read the postings here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=17104

Its too much. The purpose of the images is just to attract visitors to see the ads. If you put alt text asking people to click, it is better if you put some image with a bright, large text asking visitors to click the links below.
