Which of these is more reliable? Which one of these have you had good/bad experiences with? Which one gives the most space/bandwith for the lowest price?

I believe that Hostgator is best out of both. In Space and Bandwidth. though there are certain hosts that give you more and more space with bandwidth options as well.

I prefer hostgator because they are already an established hosting company.

I was paying about $60 a month for one website that had like 0 traffic, plus they did not allow PHP on that package. I remember when we saw webhosts for 10x cheaper, 10x more specs and 10x the features. We were also very dissapointed when we uploaded phpNuke on our 1and1 account and found it didn't work. Gutted.

My friend says taht their dedicated servers arent bad, but I wouldnt know.

HostGator is definitely the most reliable provider of the two.

Hostgator is much reliable hosting company. I never use 1and1 hosting before, but heard a couple of bad thing from other people who use it.

I know a friend who have had pretty bad experience with 1and1. I am using Hostgator since many months now and they're just great. I highly recommend them.

    Hey hi
    I hate 1and1
Hostgator beats them on any given day.
First of all I have found out that 1and1 has a complicated and stupid system which is not cpanel and their own crazy panel.
    It is limited.
The way the whole system works it sucks. It is very hard for a newbie to get grasp of their system.
They do not have enuf guides for newbies to get started.
I have had many friends getting pissed at them.
No live chat form what I last remember donno now..

Hostgator is great I like them.
But my favorite is Bluehost it beats all of them handsdown.

I wonder how some people say 1and1 is expensive! That's probably the cheapest place for a small beginner package.
I have an account with 1and1 since 2-3 years ago for some of my less-sensitive sites and I never had a problem with them not to mention, they don't offer anything extra like cpanel, fantastico, one-click installs , etc. Anyway when I signed up, it was only limited to north america and it was so cheap and I think I'm still paying the same amount.(not sure if it's changed now)

Personally tried Hostgator 3-4 years ago (can't remember exactly) and I would never comeback! Had several issues with them in the first month and when I asked for my money back (according to their money back guarantee) they started arguing with me instead of issuing the refund.

Their live support was practically useless. I never got any solution from them except to go and fill-out a ticket.
Apparently they are changed now, but this was my experience with them.

I know a lot of people are going to disagree with me but I think Dreamhost has been the best. I understand if someone has bad experience with them too, because it's just your luck, which server your site is going to be on.

    IMHO :)
