I've been using domain & hosting at 1and1 for almost a year now. So far there's no problem at all. Their domain & hosting are cheap, especially free private domain registration. Oh and if you want to cancel your hosting package or domain name, just go to their cancel page and you'll be done in less than 5 minutes.

Avoid 1and1 Like the Plague. They are the WORST HOSTING COMPANY IN THE WORLD!

I had a website that was up, on average for 2 hours a day, it was down for the other 20-22 hours.

They have the worst customer support and have NO IDEA what they are doing.

    Use aplus.net, they are great.

I have used them before for just registration. I too like their interface, and they seem to have some good services, although, i have heard some rumors that do not sound good.
It would be unfair to post them without concrete evidence, but, other members experiences would be the best way to evaluate if it is going to be a good thing for you.

I cancelled once. I didn't transfer a domain right. Not their fault. I jsut logged in and cancelled the name. The next day I went back in and gave the correct code. And by the evening I was up and running.

So it does work. And I'll try transfering tomorrow.

Avoid 1and1, I would say that support is pretty much none existant, gurantees aren't met, service is poor, overall poor quality webhost and domain provider, very hard to use for customers. Choose godaddy or some one else instead.

I will stay away from it as my friend tells me once.
    Go to Wisenic or Godday

I called twice today. Very helpful. Just went to CP and unlocked domain. Then got code for authorization. Then went to upnames and entered the code. Now it's transfered out so it does work. And there was no penelty fee.

    Thanks,
    ivnj

Don't go with 1and1. They are a big M. F****r. I've 3 domains with them with hosting package. I bought them 3 years before. Now I'm not using their bullshit hosting. I have my own server. But problem is I cannot cancel my hosting and paying 100 dollar every month. I've tried a lot to transfer my domain to godaddy but they didn't allow me. As my domain is top ranked in google and my business name so I cannot use another domain. I'm still looking a solution to save around 100 dollar a month.
