Update: Changed deadline from 2 weeks to 1 week. Hi everyone, (Please also participate in the logo contest for this website: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=8963242#post8963242) I have a website: http://www.lancepost.com It's a feed aggregator for job bidding sites like scriptlance, getafreelancer, rentacoder etc. I need a new design for the site. Only PSD is needed, I will code the design myself. Please read the requirements carefully, and try surfing the site a little bit, because it's not a typical web blog. The designs for the following pages are to be delivered: - The homepage (http://www.lancepost.com) - Individual post (http://lancepost.com/node/2727) - Subscribe page (optional, not required: http://www.lancepost.com/subscribe) - Category page (http://www.lancepost.com/taxonomy/term/2) Here are my requirements: - The design must be simple, but effective and look professional. By "simple", I mean no extravagant use of images, but instead focus on typography and readability. - The table for the homepage should have alternate background for rows (as it should have in the current design). - It would be good if you have a nice Subscribe button. - In the subscribe page, checkboxes should be organized in columns. Some additional information: - I like red, black and white. It's better to make white the background of the main content because it's more readable that way. Other color combinations are welcome as well, as long as they look nice. - The contest will close in 1 week, but the deadline can be extended. - Payment will be made in half right after someone wins the contest, then I will work with the winner for a little bit if needed, and when the final result is delivered, I will pay the other half. Paypal only. Please put your draft in your reply, and I'll tell you what I like and what I don't. Also tell me if there is anything you need to clarify. Thanks in advance for your time. Gary.
Actually the 4 pages are not quite different. Also I do not require much graphic design work. Just typography is enough. So I think $125 is appropriate because: - Subscribe page is just a bunch of checkboxes, and it's optional, not required. - Individual post page and category pages are almost similar. - Not much graphic works involved. Just font type, font sizes, colors and spaces between elements. I need the site to load fast. Basically only 3 pages required, with 2 pages which are similar. So the workload is roughly of 2 pages only. And I believe $125 for 2 pages is not a low price. Please participate if you're interested, and tell me what you think.
Hi Gary looks to be a great contest. I think 2 weeks is a bit too long though, IMO 5 days would be sufficient and you would see more entries if the timeframe was shorter. If its 2 weeks people tend to put things off till the last few days anyway and focus on other contests and other work if there is no urgency involved. Just my thoughts, you are the boss Good luck, I will be surely entering in any case.
I'm interested. Basically it's the same design except the posted styles. Which are easy modifications. I am only going to design 1 page. As 4 pages is a lot of work for people who aren't sure if they're going to win or not. From that page you can decide if you like where I'm going. Then if I win, you pay after I complete all 4 pages. Sound good? Otherwise I probably won't bother.
Hi, you don't have to get the draft perfect right away. Just give me whatever idea or sketch you have and I'll give you constant feedback. It's better that way, I think. I will gladly pay a bonus if anyone makes something that I really like. Oh and don't forget there's a companion contest for the logo of this website located here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=994595 . @jhonysmith: I don't understand what you are talking about.
Version 1. I'm thinking up a different one that doesn't involve so much black. I also realized you really don't need a header link bar/nav but I placed it there for an option. Other wise the rectangle gray box just below the header nav bar can be deleted. 2nd job listing is an example of a visited link. I'm in debate of what bullet images to use for the left hand navigation. This layout is expandable.
Hi, thanks for your hard work. Here's my review: - Rows are separated with dotted line, which is a fine thing I like that. - Thanks for thinking about a navigation menu. I will have one later anyway so I'll need that designed. - That "Subscribe" button is really what I want. I want it to stand out in the sidebar just like that. Here's some suggestions: - I will not need that gray box below the navigation bar. - I don't need separators between columns of the table, and I need the rows to be alternatively colored also. - Somehow the colors of the whole design doesn't match too well (black and blue). And the title of the widgets on the sidebar should be somehow bigger. I'm waiting for your second version. Thanks for your participation. Gary Cao.
No problem. Modifications coming up. I'll edit this post with the newer version. --EDIT-- I changed the color scheme and added arrows as bullets. I choose the new colors because your logo competition seems to focus on those colors. I didn't make the links blue because it seemed to blend into the template too much. Making it hard on the eyes. I didn't choose black for the text because you said black and blue don't go well together.
I will join soon... kindly see my entry.. to ur other contest >> Logo & Banner... I appreciate ur feedback... as I would like to jive my website of you here...if won.
@rebelagent: Hi, it looks nice However the header looks a little bit blank though. Overall, it's ok. There's still much time until the deadline for others to join in too
please do wait for my entry. i'll post it in a few days. currently having internet problems. Can't upload i finally managed i'd like some feedback please
What exactly do you mean by design? Just the visual part including html and CSS, or also specific skin coding for the CMS you're using? Here's my suggestion:
I will try to submit an entry if I can...I'm currently trying to redesign a site for a client and if I can just get past this designer's block, I'll make an entry for this.
I'm in the process of a 3rd design. I will edit this thread as soon as I complete it. I realize it has a facebook feel to it now... Well hope you don't mind And I did the alternate row colors like previously requested. My other entries can use the same alternate row colors as well.
