Hi, (please also participate in the web design contest for this website at: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=8963175#post8963175) I need a logo designed for this website: http://www.lancepost.com It's a feed aggregator for job bidding sites like scriptlance, getafreelancer, rentacoder etc. Here are the requirements: - The logo should be eye-catching and professional, but not too dependent on effects and details. Just take a look at the logo of Digital Point and you'll get what I mean (the text doesn't look nice, but the logo image (pointed d and p) is expressive. - The logo should also include "Lancepost" and the tagline "One feed to rule them all" (the tagline font size might be small, but should still be readable). - I need a favicon (little icon which appear on the address bar) for that logo. - I also need ad banners which has the logo in it. Here are the sizes I want: + 200x200 + 468x60 Some additional information: - I may require color changes of the logo after you win the contest. - The contest will close in 1 week, but the deadline can be extended. - Payment will be made in half right after someone wins the contest, then I will work with the winner for a little bit if needed, and when the final result is delivered, I will pay the other half. Hi sarsh11, thanks for your entry. I like the idea with the RSS broadcasting icon, but it's lancepost, not linkpost. The 1st icon looks better with both the tagline and the name of the site, however I don't think the jigsaw icon fits here. Great work though Keep it up.
that's a great job. I wonder if anyone can do better? Oh remember that you will also create ad banners as mentioned in the first post. But I guess that's not difficult for you designers then.
@graphicband: Hi, it's good concept. Please expand it. However I just have one suggestion: somehow make it more simple and less detailed. I mean when people look at it, the logo should rightaway register in their minds. For example sarsh11's logo is easy to recognize and easy to remember. But your concept is good too Just improve it a little bit more @Subliminal 52: Thanks for your entry. Your logo seems a little bit plain, and I don't like the background. Try working on the LP symbol a little bit.
@pat3ck: Your logo looks fine too, however I have to stress my requirements again: something simple yet effective and professional. Your logo somehow is not as symbolic and well expressed as sarsh11. @katesrobyn: Hi, your banner is an eye-catcher however it's still a little bit too detailed and complicated. I need something lightweight but still memorable. Thanks for your entry. So, so far sarsh11's logo is the closest to my expectations. Here are the reasons why: - The color scheme is simple. - It's lightweight. No extravagant uses of visual effects. - There's a balance between the title (lancepost), the tagline and the RSS icon. - It's "expressive". Just a quick glance and you have an impression of what the website is about. I hope these reasons can clarify my requirements better. I'm looking forward to better logos from you guys Gary.
@graphicband: The second logo is great! Definitely the kind of balance and simplicity I was looking for. Great job Please keep me informed if you have any improvement on it. @sarsh11: Hi, please feel free to post it as a reply here, or send me a PM. @Itaydr: It looks nice, but the speech bubble icon seems a little common, and not quite relevant to the website. @Creations4You: That's a nice entry too. However the glossy effect doesn't look good enough. Also the pin icon shouldn't be just black and white. And finally, somehow I don't see your logo as balanced as the best two I mentioned above. But overall that's a good logo
