My site has been ranked on page 1 for a hot keyword for sometime now and suddenly over past few days, my site is nowhere found for that keyword. I've not made any changes to my site. My Pagerank has not changed. Is there some kind of penalty involved? What can I do about it? Tks.
Since last couple of days, there have been numerous complaints of similar kind and that people are suddenly witnessing loss of serp position. I guess google has made some drastic changes in its serp algorithm and this experimentation is throwing up disastrous search results! You perhaps need to wait out this uncertain period and hopefully, things should return back to normal...very quickly. Regards, RightMan
SERPs do disappear some times for couple days but shall not be too long if more then couple days then you may consider checking some of your backlinks site
SERPs has been all over the place in the UK for two or three weeks. Luckily my main site is holding up fairly well but some others have disappeared to reappear for a few hours every week then go away again.
What is the site and what is the keyword you are targeting? It would help if we had something to work with. I would like to see the site - so I could check the content, check backlinks, and take a look at some other stuff.
This is happening a lot these days, Google is making major changes, All I can see, keep building backlink and updating content and hopefully you will get your rankings back.
I am on the other end. My site has ranked between #5 and #8 in my keyword for the last year, as of 2 days ago it is #1!
One of my site was number 1 for nearly one year, but last two/three days its dropped to number 2. As its not a big difference I m not sure my site has dropped for the same reasons all are saying here
I have seen some major changes in Google SERPs for my sites too. I guess we will have to wait for some time. As your site is old, you may [hopefully] see it coming back to where it was in the past.
Also experiencing this, mine was on page 3/page 4 (depending if wrapped in " or not) now after looking through hundreds of results using the browser's find feature, it's nowhere to be seen. The competition appears to be unaffected though obviously I'm not going to remember 20-30 results. I haven't updated the site in ages(it peaked at #20 then dropped down a bit and stayed there) but I doubt this is the cause of it, none of the competition I've checked update theirs either.
How long was your site on #1? How did you get there in the first place? Any grey or black hat methods? Could be that Google took some time to catch on. Or maybe you got some new competition. Or maybe it's just the ever mysterious Google dance. Like others suggested, just keep going, build your backlinks, do your SEO and hopefully things will get back to normal.
honestly, i'm quite tired of dancing to Google's tunes. While i know that we don't have that much options, but this is one aspect that i'm going to change going forward. my sites will need to become more and more independent of Google, seeing that Google's motto, 'Don't be Evil' seems nothing further than the truth.
