is there an easy way to determine whether a member is on a...

    TEMPORARY BAN or PERMANENT BAN?

i see a fair bit of banning going around, how can i find out if that member will be back, or not?

    THANKS :)

I have another related question (or suggestion)
Is possible to know how many days a member has been on "banned" status, or how many infraction points has currently and accumulated in the past.
It could be a useful feature for those people buying signature links.

see this image? [IMG] thats the reputation link.

if this image is gone from a banned members posts, then they are gone forever.

if the image remains in their posts, they they will return.

no telling how long a person is banned for, you just have to await their return.

    Actually, that's not true.

If you don't see the rep icon, it means they were banned manually via the MOD CP.

If the rep icon IS visible, they were banned via the infractions system.

I didn't either until sawz brought it up and then I checked to see if he was right.

BTW- there's no way to tell how long someone is banned for.

Unless of course you can contact them via one of the contact methods they add, if any.

    so, does this mean that...

    banned by MOD = PERM.

    banned by infractions = TEMP.

    :)

    THANKS

lol, no, he said that for manual and infraction system ban, which can be both, temp and permanent.

No way to check about temp or perm ban. Unless, you can the banned member. :)

I have a question about being banned due to double ids.
For example this member who has two ids at DP and very active with both.

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php?u=82152
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php?u=59206

Apparently he was banned around Sep due to this.
But then after one month around Oct, he's back using the first one again,
then in Dec, he's back with the second which means he has two id again.

Then now in Jan, his first id is banned again for not sure why, but he is still using his second.
So what is the guideline ? Are these temp ban or perm ban?

This is very confusing especially when we want to verify a member's reputation & itrader,
since the bans are not announced with reason, and no way we can track whether
    someone has been banned before.

i tend to agree... i would add...

if someone is enough of an a**hole to get banned (even once) - why are they invited back?

ok, so, everyone deserves a SECOND CHANCE... but after that, it's just a waste of time and resources - boot them for j*sus sake.

    just my opinion. :)

AFAIK, duplicate account infraction carries a weight of 10 points (not permanent ban, unless the person makes his/her habit to create dupe a/cs). The other account (duplicate) gets banned permanently.

    that's the point...

if they know it's WRONG, and do it anyway - why aren't they banned - period.

banning one of their dup. accounts is like saying to a little kid...

now, you better not do that again, you know that's wrong.
(meanwhile, the kid is laughing his/her a** off at how easy it is to manipulate)

kick some a**, that will send a message. :)
    IMHO
