    elvirs please read this.

and the same would go for directory links that are actually reviewed on a regular basis, they would be deleted as well.

I also note elvirs that you actively buy and sell dropped domains with page rank. That combined with your red rep make me a little wary of any advice you have to offer on this subject.

It might be an idea to continue this debate in a separate thread as it seems to be getting away from the link sales theme.

    Check the wayback machine
Check the google cache (through your google toolbar - the dropdown next to the pagerank bar) of the main page and a few level 2 pages (you are looking to see if the pages are cached and also how recently they were cached - if a PR5+ site main page was cached a month ago that is a bad sign.)
Check the backlinks via yahoo site:www.theurl.com

Dropped domains sometimes have some value if the webmaster has plans for them beyond scraping together just enough content to whore links.

I like the suggestion to give -rep. Sometimes it feels fruitless to give -rep or expose a cheater when people don't take heed. Also give the thread a low rating and look out for threads with low rating.

This is the net, you can boast about whatever you want anonymously. What is the site? What was the PR when you bought it? Are you actively selling links for that site? And there hasn't been a PR update in over 4 months. Also the backlinks don't magically disappear in one day, over time they disappear if they are no longer relevant to the content of the site.

What the problem? You can extract old content from Web Arhive and put to this domain and this case you will save links relevancy and PR!

I like to buy such domains but links structure need to be deeply analyzed.
Evere one who have this domains with software thematic - wellcome.

On the same note...there are a lot of people selling links and domains with fake pr. I checked ebay last night, and 90% of pr domains being sold held fake pr. They promote the sale of the domain by stating that the buyer can sell text links on their new site for good money.

Tried warning everyone many times. Including those paid web directory. Nobody listens.

DP should have a stricter rules that ban anyone that doesnt include a notification regarding the domain status/condition.

Yes Grumps it is very frustrating and it hurts the advertising business when people get ripped off because once they get burned they might not buy again.

It would be impossible for DP to police it, because this is a forum hopefully if we keep sharing information through posts like this then people will know better and if the scammers are not making money and just getting their reputations hurt they will eventually move on to another scam that is easier.

Good to warn newbies with this post. But there is no way that this is the newest trend. This has been going on for quite some time.

soju it has been going on for a long-time but I have noticed it started becoming big in the directory industry over the past six months. I also think it is a growing problem in general.

HOW TOP BUY TEXTLINKS THE RIGHT WAY

I had so much trouble here on DP just because of that. And most linkbrokers don`t even know. Read what I had to go through when I tried to warn others.
I wrote a pamphlet last week on how to buy textlinks. Read it and become a happy man!

Jut yesterday I warned a DP member who was going to buy such links. I sent him a PM and luckily it reached him on time before he bought those links.

Doing this is my duty and all of you should do the same.

There are many members selling high PR links... how to recognize it then ???

For eg :- if a person is selling PR 7 or PR 8 link then what are the steps or ways to know that the PR is fake or helpful for our site.
