Since I was the creator of the thread, I believe current policy allows for this request. Here is the current URL:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=401885

There's no way to edit out URLs and mentions of the domains myself.. and since the sites are indeed quite valuable, hopefully the request can be granted. Would be greatly appreciated.

For smaller sites I would never bother with this btw. Thanks...

Sales threads do not belong in the Underground, they belong in the Buy/Sell/Trader section of the forum - so there it shall stay.

If it could stay in the Buy/Sell/Trade and yet not be indexed by Google then I wouldn't be requesting this. The reason why the underground is the most appropriate place, is that section is not crawled by SEs.

I believe this request has been made in the past, and since it was based on a genuine need it was entertained.

The thread talks about detailed earning reports regarding the site. Info I wouldn't want accessible after the network is not for sale anymore. If it was sitepoint, I'd just go in there and remove all the comments myself, since their marketplace system allows that. That isn't possible here. The underground is the only way... so please can you reconsider.

Stay on sitepoint then ? no offense

I think you can request a moderator to remove content later from YOUR post.

lol, that's the entire point. I created the thread. I'm not requesting someone else's thread be moved to the underground.

The mention of SP wasn't to say it is better.. it was to show that this particular need can be fullfilled there by the thread creator themselves.. here it can't. Hense the need for the request.

Edit: found the thread where a similar request was made:

you should have thought of that before posting the URL's, mods will close the thread on request, and if you ask nicely they will edit out the urls on the OP, but if you have 20 pages of thread and urls on every page, then tough.

ps Google bot lives on dp, it has even been suggested to charge it rent. the thread is indexed already, most threads here are within the hour

You're right. While the thread was dragging along, I always thought in the end simply moving it to the underground would solve the issue. (Thought it was a request, if made by the thread creator themselves, would be entertained).

It is indexed, but it would drop out and stop appearing in searches if the referrences were taken out or the thread moved.

well i see it like this, you posted extra info to bump that thread every 2 days, and now you want it to go away.
when google make it public that they are going to drop sites that have paid for links, you are going to have 200,000 link sales threads, wanting to be moved to the underground. now if you can have it done, then they can have it done too, right?
i think you made it public and thats that, lesson was a hard one to learn

If you didn't want the stats publicly available you really shouldn't have posted them in the first place on the forum and left it for PM.

If I was aware that this underground thing would never be granted, then of course I would have not posted any urls. Similarly, if that earlier thread where a similar request was granted was not in front of me, I wouldn't have taken the chance.. again it simply returns back to the inability of editing ones own posts.

maybe it boils down to your lack of communication? i mean if it was this important, then you could have sent a pm to a mod and asked before you posted,
you brag in that thread about a $700,000 house paid for by one of the sites. is that just to brag or was it ego?
that has nothing to do with the sites or any business of people on DP. maybe it was some sort of "attention seekings special treatment" thingy?

i think your stuck with the thread in the BST

I also have to agree with sarah

I mean if we start moving sales threads to the underground that would just be weird if you ask me..........

Sarah hasn't been back to read the explanations.. in any case, I'm just trying here. If I'm stuck, I'm stuck..

The thing about the house was indeed relevant. Certain hype like that within sales threads works.. what it means is the income from the site which is currently for sale is accomplishing that. So for people with that kind of money thinking of investing in say real estate.. this might be a wiser option.

seems like the hype didn't do anything, as the site is still unsold.

Wow - thats a super OLD thread 2004 ...whew...and Shawn was actually even doing stuff like that,

I am afraid those days are long gone,

There is just to many members, if we start allowing sales threads in the underground this place would go crazy

Then the whole I trader thing would get wacky as well, since there is no I trader in underground, so a sales thread for sure would not be good there..

Thought you'd say that, but you do agree it was relevant now?

The site is still unsold, and I still own it. Of course there was a chance of that happening, hype or no hype. If you read through the rest of the thread.. you'll notice that the income was improved by about a grand.. that was because of the thread.. so it did do something.

I sent you a PM regarding the post above where you made the quote. Any reason for ignoring that.

Are you still interested in selling the site?

I know Sammie has a 350 blog network that she could link your thread to if you wanted to get more interested parties

Could we be of help to you by helping you sell the site?
