Edit post idea

I agree that editting your posts should only be for a limited time but I was thinking that for the OP of a thread, he should have better limitations. So I thought about editting your posts on eBay and how it will add it to the bottom saying the time/date and the message, why don't we include an option like this?

Another down side is for selling domains that it takes the chance from taking any sold domains off a list of domains for sale.

Thanks, looking for an input from all, especially Smyrl ;)

mods are allowed to edit a post whenever they want.

This forum was not created originally as a market place, the market place is only an added bonus of it so Shawn and the team will not make such modifications just for changing the status of a domain.

Confident, any changes in VB set up is solely in the domain of owner/Admin. One thing to bear in mind in deciding to make hacks or adjustments to VB programming is how much trouble will it take to update when newer versions of VB become available.

There have been many threads regarding time limits for editing posts. One of the last ones is found here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=1655374

I don´t see a need for editing, you can always make posts lateron to correct something.

Blogmaster: That is true but it is always better to be able to add some information to the main post if you end up having say 17 pages of replies, right? A lot of people in b/s/t will say "Is this offer still up" after you posted thanks for your services, deal is done.

I think that B/S/T should offer a button where you can just add either a custom message or just a auto-message stating:

"The original poster has found what he or she was looking for, there is no need for posting here any more, thank you" and then lock the thread, just an idea ;)

I can see how in BST it would make sense to be able to edit a post lateron. Maybe it´s not such a bad idea. But there will also be more and more work for mods, so maybe it will be good to have a few new rules there and also start charging a little bit for starting a thread.

I dont think it is good idea to be able to edit after some time (8 hours) in BST specially because than after selling people can edit and add or delete some important terms and get SCAMMED :( :D:D

That is true. Maybe if the person who posts it can press it and it auto-locks the thread too would be a great attachment :)

Your "needs" are increasing ;) but sadly i think it would be too much trouble to have it implemented just for the sake of B/S/T section, this is webmaster forum matey not a marketplace like ebay

But a large amount of DP members do use the b/s/t and this may apply for other places too
