Right now this forum does not allow editing posts that are too old, which is a rather normal thing. In BST though, there are many who start an auction for example and after the auction ends, replies keep coming in, simply because the "auction closed" post is buried under a pile of "PM details please". Is there any way to allow the editing of the first post for an indefinite amount of time in order to avoid all this nonsense? Regards, George
Changes in editing policies have been discussed many times before. An eight hour window seems to be fairly flexible to me.
An auction often lasts for days. If editing is not possible, perhaps adding a comment on the very top of the thread will do the trick. I mean take a look at this thread. This is not the sort of editing to remove typos, but to close deals and tell others that it is closed. Best regards, George
I agree with you Rob..but not too much.2$ for all categories except sites..and charge like 10$ for sites section. Saad
What will be the difference then, DP will become SP and most of us do not want that Sorry i totally disagree with you I do not like the idea of editing either because if you do that then there can be increase in the number of scam too. Someone could say that you will get X and when he gets paid he remove that you will get X and you wont be able to do anything since there will be no proof left for you to say that X was included. There are similar other issues like this that can make it more like a Scammers paradise
Perhaps the focus should be not on modifying old posts but rather allowing to add content to them, through an update field or something. This would avoid scams and would make everything easier. Just my 2 c. Regards, George
Just report a thread you want closed. But only if you started it. And make sure you definitely want it closed because we don't re-open it again. We have a life too.
yes it is not good allowing to edit old threads in biz section.Once i asked to close thread , Mods closed in 5 min so it is simple and quick.
Yes, once a sale is concluded or the service is over with, just click on the triangle and ask a mod to close your thread. That will avoid the new postings from people who can not understand the word "sold" or the words "offer is over" or any other words to that effect.
yfs1 posted that he did something like **************** SOLD ***************** and has never had a problem. I do know some never read but his method at least catches the eye.
I too do the same thing Check out some of my sale threads for example http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=166957 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=160504&page=2 Amit
I do think that will happen as the section becomes more and more popular. And why not, if people make money off of DP, let them kick down something for the servers.
I used to be on SP, until they started charging crazy prices. I don't think $1 is bad, but $20 or even $10 or $5 is just out of the question.....
It's Rob's personal opinion but I doubt Shawn would charge fees in BST. Fees will just throw away few members to shift to either v7n, namepros and webmastertalk IMO.
