What's the deal with bumping here?

Maybe I suck at starting threads, but it seems that I never get any replies to my questions on here!

What's the deal with bumping if the thread is a few days old?

I got a yellow card for bumping a little while ago and don't fancy another, so how does one go about bringing attention to a thread that by now is pretty buried?

    Any help?

if everyone bump their own thread, the bury speed will be faster...then there will be more bump, and the bury speed go even faster..

    i vote for no bump

I think the mods are sometimes too over zealous on where they move things.

    deal with bumping:

it decreases productivity and increases costs. how? imagine someone posted "i agree!!!!!!" to a 4-day-old thread. you click on the thread title, and then you scroll down to the latest posts, and:
you've wasted an average of 4.6 - 6.2 seconds depending on how long the page is. You waste more if you are on a slower internet connection, sometimes up to 9.3 seconds.

Those seconds can accumulate over a period of say 30 days, which adds up to enough time for a webmaster to code a webpage. That's lost productivity.

For those on metered internet connection, they pay more for the extra time they spent on reading
which undisputedly has less benefits than costs.

Those whose ISP charges them by bandwidth, and with avatars, images and what-not turned on, in 30 days they pay several dollars in bandwidth. Those several dollars can be used to buy a cheese and sausage bagel.

DP has caused many people to voluntarily decrease their productivities. Don't let bumping add to the problem. SAY NO TO BUMPING.

Depends... I mean if it's a LEGIT bump ie. answering to someone, or posting an update that's important....

If not - start a NEW thread, better explain your situation/question... perhaps in a different section of the forum?
