#1 in Google untill.......

I was recently surprised and happy at having a website appear at #1 in Google :).
    BUT....I have noticed something strange.
When I open Google and search for my keyword I appear at the top.
When I sign in to i-Google and type in my keyword I appear at #12 !!!
Does anybody know why this is ?

    thanks
    Dave

Signing in and out of your Google account is altering your Search Engine Result Page because Google uses your previous searches and search history to serve better results. If you want to see the "real" result page try to use InPrivate browser function.

I noticed it is also different in different regions and especially countries. There is no one universal spot for any site.

I'd try clearing cookies etc and searching again without signing in.

Most likely it is showing you personalized results based on how often you visit your own site.

Does your traffic match what you'd expect with a #1 ranking?

Before you take over the position for good it will take you quite some time, so get used to being on different pages everytime you search :p

in my point of view you should try to disable the history tab in the google search when you are signed in. in this way you will be able to get exact and right results.
