Wouldn't a Thank You Button be splendid for DP?

Well regardless, if it switched to a "thank you" system, we wouldn't be listing how many "thanks" were received from each post. Not because it should be secret, but simply because it adds to clutter. Too much clutter is a bad thing IMO.

I am only new here but judging from the number of members and posts I would have to say that the people that run this site, as well as the active members all deserve the biggest THANK YOU imaginable.

I have been a member of numerous forums but I think this will become my main one from now on. :):):):)

Why not change the rep system so it leaves a user name by default?

The comments received are not nice but you will always gets clowns.

    Thanks Brian

I've been giving red lately as I'm tired of these dumb *cough*s who have no clue what they're talking about.

I'm sorry to say there appears to be quite a few folks like that here. heh Google Adsense on drug sites. Right....

Those people who have 11 "blobs" had to get them somehow. And if you are getting reds, just have some peace of mind knowing that it took -1 away from their rep points as well.

Rep trading most likely as there were a couple threads like that.

I get lots of grayed out reps but they don't count since some sub forums are disallowed for giving rep. 2 of those, 2 reds since I dinged folks and one green for the above post.

I think he means that "Thank You" is a shortcut of giving a rep, you dont hav to type, just keep scrolling and give rep without touching your keyboard.

i think we should put the "Thank You" button as a leaderboard or a really large banner. High Impressions = High CTR = Higher Amount of Thanks. =]

And where would that banner be? I don't think DP's server would agree to add another weights to its current load. :D

I think adding a thank you button will get lots of cpu usage, it is just a little add-on feature the same with reputation and itrader..

I was just reading about what someone said about forgetting to hit the rep button, wouldn't it be easier just to change the rep button to something a bit more recognizable as a rep button, it's not exactly obvious which button it is from a new members point of view. Although there is a FAQ thread about rep etc who will actually go and search for how to do it, especially when rep doesn't really matter that much anyways its probably easier for most people just not to give it. Which is why changing the rep button may be more feasible than adding a thankyou button

    You are all ? :rolleyes::confused:

By the way I think its good that "Thanx" is not available here !
DP looks clean without that thing. :)
Rep is better than thanx one.

Gotta agree with that. I know on some of the *cough* more colorful forums I view, I'll read the first post in a thread and then have to tab down 4 or 5 times to see the second post because of all the "Thanks!" messages left.

I did have a question since we're discussing this. I know by the rules that asking for rep is not allowed. Would a sig line saying something like "Remember kids: Leave rep if you've been helped" be allowed or would that be considered asking for rep.

Reputation button should be made some kind of distinguishable button. Most of people are not aware of the reputation system at all. Instead, put thats thanks button design on reputation button ;)

    That would be more feasible.

If I was Shawn I'd have implemented every single user idea onto a hidden 'mirror' forum, wacky idea or not just implemented it.

Do this over a period of a year then opened the hidden forum up to the public.

I bet that would be a monstrosity!

The reputation button is almost like Thank You button but the problem is that it is too small. Even i didnt know about it my friend just told me this.
