Google is presently serving decaffeinated serps.

Lots of buzz about caffeine but not rolled out from the datacenters I check.

Honestly Google Caffeine is a bit of a joke, it's a test environment where they can make changes and see the results. Some changes are good and they will use them, some are bad and they will scrap them.

They have done this since the Stanford days, just not on a public URL. Why did they launch this sandbox?

Because MS launched Bing and was getting too much love, so they launched the sandbox so people would go OMG new search engine lol.

Remember caffeine is an infastructure change. That being said It appears that the caffeine update has happened. Now as far as caffeinated serp changes I think what you are reffering to is the serps on the caffeine test dc which is algo changes and not infastructure. These serps have been slowly rolling out and rolling back again, a typical scenario during an update of this stature. Many people keep asking when caffeine is going live well here are the answers.

    1. Caffeine has gone live as far as the infastructure change
    2. There are some alogorythm changes that are starting to be rolled out seperate from caffeine
    3. Don't wait for Google to make an official announcement because 99% of the time they do not announce these things.

The results are now getting very similar which is good, however I have noticed a number of alogorythm changes which have not been at all positive for me - I take it from posts here that these have nothing to do with these infrastructure developments - is that correct? I've taken a real hit on a couple of sites
