To anyone who can shed some light upon this...

I just had someone give me negative rep on one of my posts.

The post in question is - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1387582

His/her comment was along these lines "use the same fonts as everyone else - colors make you look like a small girl"

Is this acceptable by the rules? I try to help other users by offering some advice now and then, whenever I find some time, and having negative reps like that ruin a good members rep standing.

If it's acceptable by the rules, I guess there is not much we can do.. I would like to know though.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Wasn't me.

Most of the forums I use either don't have font colors supported or suggest people not use them unless there's a need. Outside of bold and italics though. Does kind of look AOL'ish to me though.

    It's acceptable by the rules.
People can leave rep for pretty much whatever reason (or none) they like.
    It's a totally unmoderated area.

    It wasn't me, but...

The whole idea of rep is to give them a negative if they didn't like your post in general. This might have been because of the colour of the text you used.

It was for the color of my text. He/She clearly says that.

If, however, it's fine by the rules, it's fine by the rules - I can accept that.

Is there any way to find out who it was?

Thanks again to everyone for your comments.

There's no way to find out unless they admit to it.
That's pretty unlikely, because you'd probably hit them straight back with a red too.
Forget it. You get lots of dickheads here who feel obliged to give out petty red rep to make up for their otherwise pointless existence.
    CountryBoy on target yet again.

They can leave you negative rep for anything they want. If they found your color choice obnoxious or annoying for any reason (and personally, if they did I'd have to agree with them - it's far from easy on the eyes), they can leave you negative rep. Positive or negative rep is completely at the other member's discretion.
