I have been writing a blog post series about this. Come and visit my blog at http://www.searchforblogging.com/index.php/2008/11/05/getting-people-to-subscribe-to-your-email-list-part-1/ Getting People to Subscribe To Your EMail List - Part 2
I would highly suggest against spamming using a provider such as Yahoo or Google, it will be incredibly obvious and your ISP will also get pissed off.
I too believe your web based email account does not allow sending mass email messages instantly or too quickly. If you are searching for such big mail dispatching systems try the commercial plans online.
why only email with yahoo, 2000 email is not a big problem, you can try phpmailer to help you, it's small php code to send email via a list of address very fast but your ISP and hosting provider will kick you out with spam protection -------------------------- vinafoso dot com The world class technology solution!
Its ok that ISP will treat this like SPAM but what if any one has more than 1000 contacts and friends and he/she want s to wish Christmas to all, How can they call it as spam.
I can send it for u using my mailing server.. For just $5. That wud be 0.5 cent per email. PM me if interested.
A couple of years (1-3 ?) ago I collected several thousand email addresses & sent an invitation for an event to every single one of them from my home computer while setting the return address to an address on the event site. I was sending messages in bursts of about 2000 at a time throughout the day for a few days using a free application I downloaded from "download.com". Out of the several thousand emails I sent, I got maybe a dozen violent-toned hatemail responses, a few hundered polite "Take me off your list" requests, & quadruple the normal traffic to the site managing the event for about a week. I was freaked for about a month worried that my ISP was going to cut me off or my website was going to get shutdown by Godaddy. I'm still using the same ISP & never heard anything about it from them and my old buddy still runs the site on the same Godaddy hosting account. I was surprized just how effective it had turned out & decided to tell a bunch of people about it, providing statistics and everything. I got more hatemail from the few hundered people that read about what I'd done than I got from the several thousand email addresses I sent messages to ! If you're going to get into email marketing, just do it and don't tell anyone about it or ask questions.
Mail list scrips, newsletter, subsribe software may help you . But don't send too many emails one time, or you are easily be banned by ISP .
