Spammers can send millions of emails? I can't send 3000 opted in - how come?

I wanted to send a reminder of an event to my opted in email list. I'm sending it from my Microsoft Office Live website. I was happily sending when I got the message that I can't send anymore because I've reached the limit I can send in 24 hours. DO ALL EMAIL ACCOUNTS HAVE THIS? How come spammers can send millions of emails but I can't send 3000?
I'm not even sure what my limit is - I can't find an actual figure in Microsoft Help Central. Any ideas? Does your email cut off at a certain limit every day?

Most of those spammers are from Russia & China, no idea what the laws are over there (or if there are any?)

What kind of mail service do you use? Here at work, we're using Constant Contact, all accounts are set up to a certain amount, and it's not cheap.

Get yourself an Autoresponder and you won't have to worry about it anymore.

I'm sure the email companies put a limit on the number of emails you send out so you don't become a big spammer.

You will need a dedicated server, in such case you will have no limits to send emails (per hour/per day or per month).

If you don't email on a regular base then you can try eSmartBusiness.com, they will charce you a 5 USD setup fee and 0.01 cents per recipient and all your recipients should be optin confirmed.

    Good luck!

From my experience spam is mostly from Russia and eastern European countries. In fact over 40% of it comes from one or two known spam bots.

The Chinese (and Malaysians) make up the majority of petty online scammers, stuff like hyips, currency exchange fraud, domain fraud, etc..

@topic starter - why not use a mailing list service to send your email list or break the list into several parts and send it over a week or few days.

The way I send doesn't cost me anything - I'd like to maintain that. Has anyone any idea the maximum I can sen a day via my microsoft office live account - I think it's hotmail - come to think of it - do you know if there's a limit to how many emails you can send with that? I'll start another thread to find out.

I think that they do place a limit on how much you can send. Is there a limit for Gmail?
