Check the "Visitors habitually ignoring Google ads" thread since it's virtually the same as what you are asking:

Don't forget you can rotate (up to 3) colors in your ads. It seems NO ONE does this.

by now almost all internet users know what adsense ads are and they will not click unless something really interests them

Actually you can place your ads near your hyperlinks. So that a visitor may click it by accident giving you some revenue. So being blind to ads is not a total bad thing at all. Always a bright side to things.

in theory that should work out just the same as before...

if advertisers are getting higher quality, more interested visitors from adsense clicks, it would stand to reason they'd be willing to pay more per click for each one of those visitors...so you'd get less clicks but more money for each click..doesn't really sound so bad to me.

there are always positive sides for advertisers, they have change strategies to attract vistitors. Certainly placement, color, text, image, video has their own role to attract visitors. And it seems, traditional top banner is not giving enough ROI anymore.

Some advertisers look for impressions rather than clicks. So, there are equal opportunity for all. And the Google Adsense system combined with adwords is like a win-win for all.
