Hi Web hosters, I need unlimited space to keep my backups there. I think the space that I will use not more that 100GB. I will only use bandwidth to transfer the backups when needed. So, no issue of BD. So, please quote me ur prices here for one month n for one year. Regards, ML.
you will need a VPS for that. Most hosting companies do not allow people to store backups. <100GB (say 90GB?) is quite large for a shared hosting. try here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1042746
theres no such thing as unlimited hosting O_O its a term for overselling, try a vps like she stated above.
division u r new here so just keep quite let me concentrate what I want. People I don't want suggestions in my thread.
What sort of budget do you have in mind? You won't find "unlimited space" from a reputable provider. If your looking for reliability you may want a VPS or preferably a backup service that has the amount of disk space you need.
You'll need a web host that does not oversell, since you're actually planning on utilizing the web space and bandwidth that you purchase! Right off the bat, I can tell you that no one will be able to get you anything greater than or equal toto 100Gb web space, unless they place you on a separate server. I, however, can set you up with 50GB web space for $45.00 monthly. Our website is located at www.bldhosting.net, however we don't offer such a plan via our automatic order system. Please contact support if you're interested, and we'll create you a custom plan.
I really do highly doubt there will be any shared environment that will allow you to use 100GB of space - without charging $60+. Shared hosting is meant for websites - not for huge archives. You will definitely need a VPS for what you want to do. They guy who just posted above is really as cheap as you are going to get - Id say go for it!.
VPS's for 100GB will still cost you above $70.00 monthly! Shared hosting is still probably the best option. What you're requesting won't necessarily use up too much server resources, but just the web space.
Taking up 100GB of space on a server will surely take up resources, silly thing to say that it would not. To the OP - If you are going to be using this purely for backup purposes go with Bqbackup, they are great for backing up web server content - What you are asking for will cost $20 for you, I use them currently and recommend to others, http://www.bqbackup.com/.
I meant that it would utilize next to none of the cpu and memory usage. I guess I didn't choose the best wording when trying to illustrate my point
But, for example, if it was hosted on one of my servers which is in 2x500GB raid setup that would take up 1/5 of my space, then also for the bandwidth that may be used (say 150-200GB per month). Transfering lots of files at once, writing and reading from the hard drive would cause a slow down which I would not want personally, unless you like slow-downs. Its best to go with a dedicated backup provider, never will get this on a shared provider.
I've figured you. You are not a crony. You just want people to click on your sig. I am ok with that. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1043336
