Clean Up the Directories Forum

    Hello

You have probably noticed that recently in the last few months, the directory forum has become overrun with so much junk:

    • People promoting directories not in the solicitations section
    • Random free directory lists - again if anywhere these should be in the solicitations section
    • Loads of duplicate threads and questions
    • Just general mess, spam and wrong forum posts

I have seen some big posters and respected directory owners complain about this, along with several threads in the suggestions and feedback forum.

So, in an effort to help clean up the directories forum I would like to encourage members to report any of the junk, duplicate, spam and wrong forum posts.

Maybe we can clean up this section and make it enjoyable to use.

    Calum

The impression I received from the Moderator was not to report it but to clean it up as a community. I would assume that directing them to post in the correct forum and asking all the (submitted mine) & (thanks for the list) posters to not support postings in the incorrect topic is about all we can do.

Well, replying to the threads posted (eg. the free directory lists, solicitations in the wrong forums) will just bump them up to the top while all good topics go down.

If you report them, they will get moved and infractions will be given and eventually it should stop.

I think Smyrl just said to keep the reports coming.

Anyway, if you report then the threads get locked or deleted.

Yes marki8. It is really hard to find any decent threads through all the spam, so if you just report them then everything should be cleared up. And maybe in a month of doing this people will get the point.

There are many moderators here. So they can delete threads and give infractions to people who post here.

    Hello...

The only problem with that is that they think this section is a goldmine for pimping their new directories or
requesting directory lists as many are just to lazy to do it themselves and of course they want everything FREE.

Digital point seems to be the only place on the net where you can run an un-official business
(just make a thread in services section) where you dont have to own a website.

When stuff like this happens it becomes a safe haven for the ripoffs & con-artists

It also doesnt matter if they are newbies or guys with 1000 posts or from India, Russia, or USA as they do it anyway.

All i know is this section is just down right spam anymore.

I agree of with your statement:

And just a few months ago this section was good. But if we all keep reporting posts, we can make it good again.

Yes there are. These moderators are all moderators of the "Seach Engines" forum that includes the directories forum:

    aaron_nimocks
    buffalo
    Crazy_Rob
    GuyFromChicago
    jhmattern
    Katy
    MaryMary
    mcfox
    rubeina
    sarahk
    Shoemoney
    Smyrl
    tbarr60
    TikTok
    ViciousSummer
    wisdomtool

And if they weren't, why would Smyrl tell people to report posts here?

Yep, reporting does work because then the moderators know. Just keep reporting the junk and eventually this should be a nice and clean forum.
