Does google punish the website in any way If I were to take content off other websites for my website? Even if i put the source after the content? Same with photos? etc

Not "punish," perhaps, but they won't give you much weight in SERPs. If I were you, I'd find a way to alter the content if the creator allows it. Some get good results from sectioning off all content past the first paragraph as well.

Overall, you're better off getting your own content. No one likes a copycat :p

I would not think so depends on what you want with the content. You could have just e-mailed google to ask them this personally, info you get from here may not be totally correct.

duplicate content is a way to end up punished, especially if there is a higher ratio of duplicate content vs. original content

You can't really email them. Everytime I tried emailing them they just emailed me back saying check one of these links due to high email volume...

So my conclusion based on these few answers i've gotten is that I'll try to make the contents into my own words. I believe that should work.

Google will not punish you for adding the odd copied article to your site and linking to the original one, as long as you have permission to do so.. Some article directories let you do this
Sometimes you can use other articles to give you ideas on what to base you article on.. you can even quote paragraphs of other peoples articles (with a link back) in your own and write why you agree or disagree with the author.
I don't think it is a good idea to try and rewrite an article and claim it as your own, as you can usually tell because the conclusion is the same, and only a few of the words have changed.

I also do not think it is a good idea to use an article re writer as a way to rewrite an article either. I had a look at the one in the link above and put an ezine article in it to see how it would do.. LOL, what a joke!

    First part of the Original:

After using the re write tool:

    ROTFLMAO. what an absolute shocker.
What would you think if you read that on a website? not sure if I would bookmark it :D

I laughed so hard I spat coffee all over the floor.. excuse me while I go and get a anhydrate to wipe it up with

    Cheers
    James

Yikes- looks like the "quick content wizard" is just a bit off base with the english language!

BTW, whoever said you actually get penalized from duplicate content please post proof. It's a filter. Not "duplicate content penalty"

I agree with him please post proof of duplicate content being punishable? Is maybe just a few duplicate content ok just not the whole website?

That was rhetorical, I already know that no such "penalty" exists. I've dealt with the matter in my own blog network and have incurred no penalties or lack in SE traffic. ;)

Of course you could! You just wouldn't get indexed very well because of the duplicate content filter. Note it's not a penalty, however, because if you should actually put unique content up there, it'd get indexed as usual and not receive negative weight because of your duplicated content.

I'd recommend you make your own work, or hire someone else to if you can't. No use in trying to make a profit off of someone else's work. Especially when the rewards aren't too appealing.

you shouldn't use duplicate content because than you will be filtered on google, try to write your own content or change up the content you are using a little bit so it doesn't look like duplicate content

Make it easy and make it unique read the content you wish to duplicate write a summary about it , link to it and if possible give a conclusion or your thoughts. So you give reference to the original and create your own unique content

If you are doing this only once or twice there will be no problem, but your your site/blog is all full of dupe content, then you won't get any good results i terms of ranking.

If you are using wordpress you can give a look on WordPress Uniquefier Plugin which will solve the dupe content issue. Check more info about here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1000918
