I am planning to buy a Mac PC on December with the price of $2,850. I just wonder what are its advantages and disadvantages. And what do you think is better? Mac or Windows? Please provide your explanations. Thanks, Robert
These are just from the "similar threads" listing at the bottom of this page. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=872689 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=662849 We've been here before folks Now, because I know that nobody reads past the first post before they reply, let's hear from all the idiots who claim that Macs are better for "designing", and that PCs are better value... (again).
Disadvantages of mac - you would be able to use limited number of softwares. I am not sure of its advantages as I haven't used it but I have heard that the look and feel is quite nice. If given a choice, I would go for Windows. Btw, what makes it so costly?
I used an iBook G4 for about 3 years and never had a problem with it. Mac OSX is rock solid and I managed to find all the software I needed. Windows users always point to lack of software or games for Mac but I have yet to find something that doesn't have a Mac version (Major companies). There is MS Office for Mac, Adobe Creative Suite, Electronic Arts has become very Mac friendly. I went back to PC as I couldn't afford a new MacBook and I have been regretting it ever since. Now I'm saving up to go back to Mac.
Your poll makes no sense. "Mac" is a computer type, "Windows" is an operating system. It should be OSX Windows Xp/Vista. Anyways, the choice is obvious for me, OSX. It's eating into the windows market share every month for obvious reasons.
There are a few reasons why Apple makes their computers more expensive than a computer from Dell or HP. The first reason is that they have no competition for OSX. If someone wants OSX they have to buy a mac, and will spend a few 100 extra to do so. The second reason, and more understandable reason, is that Apple products are extremely innovative. The iMac is about $200 more expensive than a normal computer with the same specs. Why? Well look at the darn thing, it's incredible. The whole computer is INSIDE the monitor. It costs apple a lot more to fit all those parts into the back of a monitor, while Dell just lumps a bunch of parts into a huge ugly machine. Innovation costs money.
Thank you for the answers people. And I apologize for having duplicate threads. Anyway, I am planning to buy HP Touchsmart that its OS will be Windows. What do you think?
