    Hi,
My current computer had been almost on everyday & night for the past 2 years. Its a good pc, but has really slowed down as time has passed, and has actually got a virus as we speak.

Finally I think its time for me to get a new one!
I was looking on ebay.co.uk for PCs, and there's a few custom built with great spec and are cheap! Dose anyone know if, because there custom build..are they slower? Less reliable? Ive seen some within my budget with 6GB RAM Memory & 10.6Ghz!! (i think that means its fast)

I use the computer for making websites, video editing, image editing, anything under the sun really. So i need a really powerful FASST system. Im in the u.k so try and recommend products in £ British pounds.

I have about £450 to spend on one. ($900)

links to products and specs would be appreciated!

ohhh and should i get a mac or windows?
    windows are cheaper i think?

cheers! sorry i don't know that much about the actualy computer operating systems...

if you are particular about the applications and games you run the go with windows.

if you just want a computer and are not married to any windows applications or games , go with the MAC.. very slick!

Not too sure where you get the idea that custom build pc are slower than branded ones? Custom build PC allow one to customized their pc to their own taste and select the quality of the products that goes into building one.

It is a matter of which software are going to use, if the software only operates under MAC OS than go for a MAC, if you going for flexibilty go for a Windows.

If you are not a gamer then I recommend going for
PC and then installing Linux on it.

Its fast and its secure and doesnt have lots of problems as Windows.

    my 2 cents

btw when u get Mac make a post in ur blog
and Digg it, You will hit frontpage in no time.

    Digg users love Mac Stuff

Even Mac fart smells like perfume to Digg Users LOL

For video editing, you'd better use Mac. Best for Final Cut Pro or Avid.

According to the work that you want out of your PC, I think you should go for a custom one. And I would suggest Windows.

The budget that you have mentioned seems to be quite good. I can't suggest something online as I don't shop online but in the local market, I can get a very good custom PC for that money. So, it would be even cheaper in the UK. Hope you get good stuff! :)

Go with Mac. They will retain their value better. I'd suggest looking into a slightly used iMac on eBay, you can get for under $900. Make sure you get the Intel ones. And I'd suggest getting as low specs as possible, and upgrade from there. It is pretty easy to upgrade RAM on an iMac, and getting an external harddrive is quite easy too. Or, if you want to fix your PC, check out http://www.cleancomputerhelp.com . Good luck.

I'll add another vote for Mac. I made the switch from PC several months ago, and I don't have any regrets. It takes some getting used to, but the overall user experience is much better.

I do heavy graphics and 3d work, and I honestly can't tell a difference performace-wise between equivalent pc's and a mac. But...it just works better. Hard to explain, so it's something you'll have to try for yourself.

It depends what you would like to use it for. I would strongly recomend windows though.

Also, have you thought about building it yourself? I recently built a monster.
    Q6600, 1066mhz memory (4 gb), Dual 8800 GTX, yeah

I saved a TON of money building it myself. And it's not hard.

Custom Built computers are generally cheaper and are cheaper in most cases. I would go with Windows. Most software is designed for Windows.
