Google changes algorithm time-to-time. But don't worry. Just work better and increase relevant backlinks of your website. You will get traffic from google soon.

sherrick, what is the Web site you're working on, and which competitor is beating you in the rankings for the search terms you're targeting?

Well, I'm seeing a few major issues here - the first one being a canoncial URL problem that could be causing some duplicate content issues. Redirect your index.asp page to the domain root (you're using ASP, so I'm presuming you're on IIS here and aren't running it through Apache).

Then look into rewriting your URLs so they use a category structure instead of dynamic URLs - make sure each section of your site has its own index (or "landing" page) and that the pages in those sections are easily accessible with their own unique URL. I do not recommend serving the same content to multiple pages, so if you're doing that, I'd stop.

Also make sure you're using your headings properly. By this I mean using H1 for the page title, H2 for the major sections of the current page, H3s as supporting arguements for the H2s, and so forth. Place your keywords in these headings appropriately, but make sure you don't do so in such a manner that they look unnatural. There are other on-page content issues of course, but only a detailed SEO analysis will be able to uncover what they are and provide suggestions on how to fix them.

Another thing you need to look at is the links pointing back to your Web site. How have you been promoting your site? Are you primarily marketing to directories which could be "here today and gone tomorrow" or are you targeting quality directories that have been arouind for a while if you're submitting to them at all? Have other sites reviewed yours and left quality links pointing back to your pages? (And so on.)

Of course, there's only so much a free overview can accomplish, I suggest you hire an SEO consultant for an analysis of your Web site if you want further information.

I had a similar problem and I realise it was keyword stuffing. I toutght I was safe with 4% of density for targeted keyword.

To solve the problem, I just put my text to normal, without any keywords being targetted in mind, so the max density I have is 1.97% and It took, 2 cache from Google, to get me back in SERP. I had even jump from position 26 to 12 for my desired keywords.

I believe Google is cracking down on over optimise technique, such as density and emphasis.

The thng is though, unless you're dealing with page titles, META descriptions and keywords tags, headings, title and image alt attributes (title="" and alt="" specifically) and anchor text, keyword density isn't going to mean much, especially in search engines such as Google.

Big chances are that you were no longer on the first page of google SERP. So you are not getting any organic traffic anymore. That's why your visitors drop. I think that will be the best reason. Try to improve your PR.

Actually it's more or less the opposite. What I said was that unless you're dealing with tags and attribute values where it's advantageous to use as few words as possible (in other words, where you WANT a high keyword density) that keyword density isn't important. Things like what I pointed out in the post you quoted would benefit from a high keyword density as well as short amounts of txt. Something like a paragraph on the other hand wouldn't really need to worry about it as long as the text is written naturally and doesn't appear to be spammy.

Join the club. Read this, this, and this for starters.

Lots of clean sites are having serp rankings drop way, way, way back right now. All of my good ranks fell from 1st page to 250-950 range.

What's going on? I wish i knew. I wish Matt Cutts would step up and tell us if something is going on.
