I recently launched a new blog to rank for a particular keyword and related modifiers. All was going swell and I had a first page listing pretty much straight away. However 2 weeks later my site was ranked in Google at position 848 for my main keyword! It's now not even listed in the top 1000 according to seoserp.com I know that new sites get a temporary boost but this seems to be a ridiculously high price to pay. Anyone else experience such a drop in such a short amount of time??
how do you promote your new site? you can not add backlinks too quickly. add new contents frequently.
Well I won't be buying any of your SEO eBooks anytime soon! Just kidding. You have a new site so it may bounce wildly. Google just had a major update in their serps and one of my sites disappeared for about four days. It came back stronger then it was before. Keep adding quality content and building links. Your rankings will improve and stabalize with age.
New sites would always rank higher in first few weeks then fall off the rankings only to come back later so paitenly wait for your site to be back in the rankings till then build backlinks fro your site
Better do things slowly but surely, don't boosts link building since your site might get suspicious. If you could get even few but strong backlinks, that will be great for your site.
Its a very significant drop. It depends on how you optimize your blog? How often do you update your blog?
TALK ONLY ABOUT SITES........ BLOGS NEVER GET A GOOD POSITION IN GOOGLE... 100% SURE..... GOOGLE DOESNT SUPPORT BLOGS VERY MUCH...... IF YOU HAVE ANY QUERRY --- SHOW ME ONE BLOG SITE ..thats in #1 in google with a High Search volume keyword...
Ok if the site now ranks good in google after that long delay for a keyword . then later on I add a page to my this new site for some other keyword and make good backlinking for this subpage would it too go down to the last and again require that long delay??
I have 1 site that jsut does not settle in the SERPs, one day its pg2 the next not in the top 1000. Thi smight happen twice weekly.
That's a drastic drop for your website. But apparently, this is common among new websites. Have to agree with WishBone that the way to go is to build strong quality backlinks over time.
