Anyone else can confirm this ?? This is happening on some pages (it was not there before, I think !!) I just noticed it today when I visited my account http://gksu.stumbleupon.com/ but it was probably there for some time !!! What are you thoughts on that move ??
no its was not - its a recent change and not all of stumbleupon is do follow only the personal page is do follow other pages are nofollow
You are absolutely correct, it was a recent change. I made a post about it earlier today: Stumbleupon goes dofollow I hope it wasn't an accidental thing that they forgot on the new system, but rather a new permanent change.
What does it mean though ?? that they realized they want to be passing PR to the pages that get stumbled ??? Did they do it consciously ? Or is it a mistake (as Raithe said) ??
**Update: It looks like it is just the "grid view" in your profile. I still have to wait until the google cache updates to see if Google caches the grid page. Might still be nofollow... :-(
i guess its a business decision they made. dofollow means more people now will be using SU, and more traffic means more money
Indeed, StumbleUpon changed from nofollow to dofollow very recently, although several external links are still nofollow (see gksu's profile page). Giorgos, do you get a lot of traffic to the pages you refer to? True, but it also means that StumbleUpon will attract even more spammers than it already does now. Perhaps they will become more active in fighting spam, like Linkatopia.
Stumbleupon only sends traffic if more than one person stumble the same address and usually the things I stumble will be voted by more than 4 people.
I meant the few external links on your profile page below "About me", which for some reason are the only links that have the rel="nofollow" attribute. Since your profile page has a PR4, I was wondering whether these links yield only a few daily visits or decent traffic?
PageRank plays no ROLE in the traffic that a page sends !!!! But to answer the question anyway, those links don't receive any traffic only occasional traffic for people that look up my profile. On the other hand with 3-4 friends stumbling my stumbles I can get 1000 visits and maybe more stumbles.
Apparently the Grid was a new way to display things on stumbleupon and they had forgotten the "nofollow" Not its on :-(
what are you all talking about??? The links on my profile are nofollow.. http://vbsetup.stumbleupon.com/ and the profile link in the blog post isn't even viewable by guest/spiders..lmao
Well the links were nofollow free for a few days but then the they went nofollow again I did report it on comment #15
